I have a Solitude 310GK with an RV king bed that has been replaced with a real mattress of the same size...but much thicker. The additional mattress height has me wanting to remove the shelves.

Has anyone done this and if so, how did you repair the screw holes?

Thanks!

Why not just raise the shelves higher? Certainly your call. Depends on how much you use them.

That begs the question... if you want to add something a bit higher and more robust, how do you go about securing things like a new shelf? Command hooks probably not the most stable!
How are the original shelves secured?

As for cleaning up holes, I'd maybe look at the Elmers wood putty that comes in various colors and get what's close, then use the old wet finger application method to just fill the hole.

We got a roll of the wallpaper seam tape from GD. You could probably make a horizontal border stripe to cover the holes with something like that. Or possibly make an accent border with a different color.

Exactly what I was thinking.

As far as moving the shelves up...they are only a couple inches under the windows...that wouldn't save my head.

I removed them long ago for same reason. I'd you're on FB, Nikki has all the details of my mods for the bed upgrades.

If not, I simply bought molding from GD to cover the holes, sort of a chair rail effect. I repurposed the shelves too. I'll see if I can snap some photos.

We removed those shelves for same reason. New mattress and bedding is taller and covers the holes. I saw no need address them, but might if we ever switched back to shallower mattress.

I need to do this on our 2023 320MKS to fit the king size mattress. Is there any tip for removing those Bed Shelves?

We added a real mattress to our 337 and didn't have to do anything with the shelves, good as we put our phones and water bottle there, good place for a flashlight as needed too!
Happy New Year!!!

So you added a king mattress and didn't have to remove those?
We have our king sitting on top of the queen, which puts the king above those shelves, but make it tough to get onto the bed and leaves very little head room.

no we just use a queen, it's easire since home bed is queen and everythig interchanges with fifthwheel

Okay, but I am installing a King and I thought your response to my question of "How to remove those shelves to fit a king size mattress", was I didn't need to remove them.

Must have been some complaints. I looked at a 2024 310GK online and they've done away with the shelves completely on the king (not the queen) and replaced them with a little box cubby on the walls as you exit the bed (or try to).

So, is there some way to remove them on the 2023? Thanks in advance.

Not sure - have never thought about it. Our factory memory foam mattress with topper still leaves 3-4" of room under them and we find them useful. But I can't see any screws from the inside - makes me think they are screwed into the wall from the outside of the inner wall.

So you have a Queen with a topper? You have a King with at topper?
I am confused with your response on how to remove the Shelves on the 2023 320MKS?
Please elaborate.

Factory memory foam king (Serta I think) with a 3" gel topper. The RV king in our 310 is not the same size as the king in our house. RV King is 72" wide by 80" long which is 4" narrower than the king in our house at 76" width.

Our bed is in a slide-out with an inner and outer wall. The inner wall is 72" wide. Can't speak for the 320MKS configuration but the bed seems to be aligned the same in a slide-out looking at the floor plan. We have no support brackets under the shelves so I don't see any easy way to remove them.

Let me try again, as there is much confusion to my request.
Our 2023 320MKS came with a RV Queen and has the side Shelves.
We bought an RV King mattress.
We currently have the RV King on top of our OEM Queen, which puts the RV King above the Bed Room Shelves.
I want to remove the shelves!

SO ANY TIPS ON HOW TO REMOVE THE BED ROOM SHELVES ON A 2023 320KS?

You can look up many parts for your RV on this GD parts lookup site. Click your RV by year, then your floorplan, under category click "interior", then under sub category click "panels/trims". Scroll down to the part number of the Seam Tape that matches which wall panel you are trying to match. Call GD customer service and order a roll of tape. I've used it repair several spots in our RV and it's almost invisible to the eye.

Below is just a sample of the tapes available for your RV... the seam tape isn't cheap. I ordered a 1"x 50yd roll for mine back in 2019 and it was $40+ .
