Replace stock pin box with Sidewinder pin box?

Because I have a short bed pickup (Silverado extended cab, 6.5 feet bed), I would like to consider replacing the stock pin box on my Solitude with a Reese Sidewinder.

1. Will this cause any problems?
2. The conversion tables for the Sidewinder have Lippert model numbers that look like this: 1621, 1621HD, 1716, etc. When I look at the pin box on my Solitude it has a label that says Lippert Item # 3213771 (18,000 pounds). The numbers don't have the same format as the ones in the conversion tables. Is there a cross reference somewhere so I can get the correct Sidewinder number?

Yes, Janice. I did get a prompt reply from Ryan. As usual, the service from Grand Design was excellent!

For anyone else that may want this information, here is what I got from Ryan:
The pin box that come installed on the Solitude would be the Lippert 1716 Roto Flex

Did you get the sidewinder? Do you like it? Do you think it is worth it? We just got a 2014 Solitude 305RE and have a Ford F250 short bed. We are looking at the Sidewinder and the Airborne Sidewinder as possible king pin solutions. Would love to know your experience.

We are also not sure of the current king pin either. We THINK it is the Lippert 1621 but not sure.

Welcome to the forum Christine!

The TrailAir Rotoflex pinbox is standard on the Solitudes...not the Lippert 1621.
