Need to replace both of our Carefree awnings. LED lights are mounted on roller tube so Carefree awnings have a wiring harness sewn into side pocket. Anyone know of an aftermarket awning with this option? I’ve called Shadepro and Tough Top neither offers this option. Going to replace our slide toppers with Shadepro. Much cheaper and thicker than Carefree. Wish they offered the awnings. Just under five years old and all toppers and awnings are splitting and cracking.

We had new awning installed and just used RecPro awnings. We rarely use the awning lights and could not justify the huge extra cost.
I think our awnings were $114.00 each (free shipping)

My buddy recently had the same issue on his motorhome. His lights were also shot so he replaced them to. He disconnected the lights at the roller tube and pulled the wire out up at the top. Getting the light strip out of the slot in the tube was the hardest part... they used silicone behind it.
The replacement awning had a folded stitched edge down both sides creating a tiny pocket. He carefully pierced the underneath side of that pocket at the very bottom and top with an awl. He pushed a small fiberglass fish rod from the bottom up and pulled the factory wires back down. Sealed it all with a dab of clear silicone caulk.

My lights are attached to the RV wall just under the rolled up tubes. What I like about this is I can use my lights even when the awnings are not extended. I put my two awnings on separate dimmer switches at the control panel... this makes for nice night lights. When we go out and won't be home until dark I just turn one on low so we have lights when we get back.

We too need to replace our awnings (ripped and stitching coming out at the roof connection) and have the same concern about the roller light wire. We have also looked at Shade Pro and RecPro and I think they have a folded over pocket on the edge where you can fish the wire back down through, they seem to be much better quality (thicker) than Carefree. But like you found they don't come with the wire already installed.

We have done anything with ours yet.
