Hey everyone, during our latest trip we hit some rough roads and the glass plate in the bottom of our Furrion microwave oven smashed into the door breaking the door, the turntable plate and the microwave. We learned a good lesson; ALWAYS remove your turntable plate before travel! However we now need to replace our over the range convection oven microwave (model FMCM15-BL-A) with a new unit and I'm hoping some of you might have suggestions of what to replace it with.
The Furrion unit has been OK, but it's had its troubles too. I had to replace the door switch holder and switches, etc., but again it worked reasonably well since new in 2017. Any ideas of what I should buy as I want a fully installed wall mounted unit like the Furrion, not a portable unit from WalMart I have to place on the floor every trip.
Thanks in advance for your help!!

We had our Microwave fail on us in the middle of a long trip. Consequently, we bought a portable MW and replaced it in the box, on the floor, every time we moved the coach. When we bought the portable MW we also ordered a General Electric GE Profile model #PVM9179SRSS from Lowes for delivery at our home store.

We really like the new GE Microwave and it looks great.

PS: installation was relatively easy. Instead of using the mounting bracket that came with the new MW, I modified the old bracket (i cut off one of the tabs) to fit the new MW. I did this because the old bracket was made of thicker metal and the mounting holes were already in the wall.

PPS: be certain you have two relatively strong people to lift the MW into place, the MW can be heavy.

For a replacement, consider checking out Samsung, LG, or Whirlpool over-the-range convection microwaves, they're solid choices for performance and durability.

Our 2018 Reflection R297RSTS has a Furrion microwave in it as well...replaced the door switches twice, and now looking at the 3rd time as it's blowing fuses again. It doesn't seem to heat things up the way it should (takes 2-3 times longer than our house model), and isn't overly user friendly. Looking to replace it. Thank you all for the input on options. Since this thread started, any updates or better suggestions on a replacement other than Furrion?

Update on my previous posting, as well as an answer to your last question...

We are still very happy with our GE Microwave, as a matter of fact, we have been living in our Camper, full time, for the last 9 months and have been using it every day.

Note: here is my last posting...

When our Furrion went out in our Solitude we replaced it with a Whirlpool WMH78519LZ00, purchased at Menards. Much better quality! We had to redrill the top down holes for the front mounting bolts.

To install we put a big cutting board across the stove and kept stacking books and catalogs with the microwave on top until we got the new microwave at the right height to hold it until we got it hooked into the rear bracket and then put the front top down screws in.

We just replaced ours a couple of weeks ago (blowing fuses again after already replacing the switch holder). We went with a Samsung MC17T8000. We love it and it is SO much more solid than the Furrion. We replaced the wall bracket, as the tabs are different sizes and locations. We believe that there is a horizontal wooden member at the height of the mounting strip so you can use new screw locations if you'd like. New holes needed to be drilled to the cabinet above. The instillation was pretty easy, but its best to have two relatively strong people to get it into place. The only downside is that the door is the entire width of the oven and I keep running into it when its open.

My only problem with your install method is all my books are on Kindle!!!!
