Hi to all, my first post here.

Ive recently purchased a 2016 Imagine 2950RL (2 slides), the seller had just replaced one slide motor (kitchen wall) prior to the sale. I did not think to ask the RV tech for the model# of the motor. I assume the other 3 motors will fail at some point, so I would like to purchase a motor to have on hand when that time comes. I'm very mechanically able so replacing the motor (should it fail while camping) shouldn't be a problem.

Can someone tell me the model of the slide motor? I know its a 500:1, but I assume there are several models that it could be.

Thx for any advise!

I did the same a couple of years ago carrying a spare motor. Mine was a 300:1 motor. To my knowledge, there is only the 500:1 or 300:1 Schwintek electric motors. I bought mine on Amazon.

Apparently you are saying it's a Schwintek slide. There is a sticker on the vertical part of the interior slide frame. It will provide you with enough information to contact GD and get info on the motor. Don't assume 500:1 just yet. Regardless of the ratio, there are different model motors and they can put you on the correct one. Amazon has some generic motors at much less cost than OEM.

Yes it is schwintek, I'll look for that sticker. When I figure out the motor part number I'll post it in case it might help someone else in the future
Thx!

THe 500:1 has a translucent cap, the 300:1 has a Black cap. attached is an Amazon Link showing the 500:1. If you scroll down it will show both the 500 and the 300:1

Thanks for the link. This may be an off topic question, but are there any lube-points on the schwintek rack gear or other metal to metal moving parts on the slide box?

There are a couple of spots, check on you rube. Seeing the video is better than me trying to inadequately explain it.

With all the issues Schwintek has, is it wise to put in some cheap aftermarket part?

Working in the automotive field, there is a lot of cheap junk out there. OEM parts fail, but there is a reason why the aftermarket parts fail way more often. Especially from a seller that does not specialize in RV's.

There is cheap junk, and there's expensive junk. And then there's inexpensive products just as good, or better, than OEM. Don't paint all with the same brush.

Unless these motors are used in some other application, I doubt there are a bunch of manufactures of them out there. I'm betting the cheap junk ones you speak of are the same OEM ones used in the Schwintek slides. As we know, anything marked "RV" automatically adds a 200% markup or more.

Probably all made in China.

No doubt whatsoever. Most things are made there. While the global picture on trade is changing, A LOT of stuff will still be made in China. I do hope not, but it's hard to beat the cheap labor....

Those of you that own a repair shop will agree 100% with me. Since I offer a 2 year warranty, there is no way I'm putting in some no name brand part from Amazon. I have a great supplier and since I am the person that says it's a warranty issue or not, I don't need permission from someone else.

China is not the problem with cheap junk. It's the end manufacturer. I work on high end German cars and some of their parts are made there, not many, but some. The stuff is good. Why? Because Mercedes/BMW has an excellent QC system that will not deal with a crappy manufacturer [no matter where they are located].

If you buy a cheap no name part, from a store that does not specialize in RV's, you're going to get junk.

I know what you are all thinking, but RV's are made with cheap junk. I think we can all agree on that. Until we consumer insist on spending our money on good stuff, they will keep making junk, and we will keep complaining about that.

In the end, Schwintek is not known for their robust system. My personal belief is that the system is fine, but the RV manufacturers do not follow Lippert's design guidelines. Most I feel are overloaded. I would not use some no name cheap part to fix a sketchy designed slide. That is just me and yes, I can paint all cheap no name parts as junk. I certainly would be more right than wrong.

If you want to spend your hard earned money on cheap parts, Amazon and the Chinese are happy to help assist you on that.

What happens with all the ones that do not pass the original QC? My guess, right to the aftermarket no name company that sells them to China.
