Hello All, and Happy Fall!

We need to replace our dinette table top. After this summer camping with 8 grandkids, (19 mos to 13 yrs), it got trashed. Scratched, gouged, bitten, you name it. Not the most durable of surfaces from the cabinet-maker at GD, but oh well.
So...where can I find one that is more resilient, and still work as the bed base for the "guests"? I looked at RecPro, but their pics are hard to see what you are getting. It's a 2-leg set up, but I can use the existing legs and cups to a fresh top.
Thoughts, suggestions are always welcome!

Cheers

Any cabinet shop should be able to make you a new top.

What about a freestanding table, measure the space and start shopping, unless of course you want to keep the same type of set up.

If you are just replacing the top you can have a top made out of any type of material you want and put it together yourself.

For the future visits you can make a protective fitted cover with a nice sturdy Vynil that semi wraps to also protect the edges or get a folding "kids" table for them to use.

I've seen folks do some pretty nice re-dos of the existing table tops - everything from tiles to parque inlays to the "50 Coats" epoxies covering (flat) things that are meaningful to them. All these were done over the existing table top.

I sanded down our old kitchent table top and refinished it. Looks great as natural finish wood. That said, I do have a 25" surface drum sander so it was easy to get a flat finish. It's certainly possible with a random orbital sander - just be careful to get the surface level. Or take your top to a woodworking shop with a TimeSaver sander or something similar.

Wish I lived closer, I took mine out, it’s just sitting in the garage, I’d have given it to you…

Talking about table tops, I would love to have one that has an extension on the end. Looked around and even called Grand Design as well as my dealer and can’t seem to find anything.
A buddy of mine has one where the extension slides out from the end of the table. Anyone have any ideas how I can do this? It’s standard about 25“ x 38“.
