My wife and i have been fulltiming for the last 6 years and use a UPS personal mailbox for our legal address. We were recently informed that due to the Patriot Act we will now need to provide 2 forms of id with our residential address. My question is.......if others of you have sold your homes and are using a mail forwarding address.......how are you complying with
providing id that also lists a residential address?

I went through something like that with Progressive when we insured a truck in FL but still had a MI residence. We had to have 2 or 3 things to show we were there. They did not accept the park lease and wanted ele bills and other things that are mailed to the FL address. (all we had was the lease and an Ele bill) In the end they canceled our policy because everything I provided was not enough, they still wanted a Credit card statement with the FL address which we did not have. Hope you come up with enough...billing at that box address will likelt be accepted

I have an adds for my registrations, titles,, license and voting in one state and an adds in another state for my health insurance. The out of pocket health insurance wouldnt take the main adds for the health insurance, so i worked around it, getting another domicile adds in another state, being a full time traveler.

That aside, i am going to get an apartment in another state as a base to keep year round and come and go. Wile keeping my same main chosen domicile adds.
The apartment has everything included, electric, cable everything, so no separate billing to be able to use for that if needed. I will check my health insurance to see if they will take that adds to not need the other domicile adds for said health insurance.

We used the Escapees Mail Service and had zero issues with insurance, financial institutions, TSA (even have TSA Pre/trusted traveler), or anything else. The Escapees mail service has been tested and proven in the courts for legal domicile (which is more than just a mailing address). We used the Texas option which means that we had Texas plates on the vehicles and Texas drivers' licenses.

Seems anything that is a "PMB" Is getting looked at.
When we signed up 7 years ago it was a legal domicile.
Getting more info tomorrow I hope.

I haven't heard about USPS form PS1583. I did a google search and there were results from LegalZoom on how to fill it out and what to provide.

We too use Escapee's domicile and mail service, have for the last 5 years. It's well worth the $48 annual membership fee and the $123 annual USPS mail forwarding fee for all they provide. They have their own zip code and no problems with the postal service. We updated our passports and our mail address was no problem.

But that is to say that even using Escapee's you will never have a problem. One credit card company turned us down because they did not like our zip code, they had flagged it as a mail forwarding box. Their loss.
Otherwise our current banks, insurance, investment company's and credit cards we do have, are all ok with our address (so far).

We have been fine for quite a few years. Wells Fargo flagged the pmb last year after using it for about 5 years. Now it seems more pmb's are being flagged. A few bad actors sure made going full time with no house a pia!

I bought a car last winter, i needed to take a 2 month loan as canceling a CD to pay cash, would have lost major interest, so i made 2 payments and paid it off, when the CD came due on time with the interest.

The dealership sais, i dont think we can use a domicile adds for the loan.
I did try normal people living also last winter so I got an apartment as well. ( didnt like that so back to full timing nowish )
I asked whats the difference, in addresses. My pmb # was 242, some apartments go in the way upper hundreds, and the apartment i had at the time was #E, not even a number.

They used my PMB adds just fine after mentioning that.

We sold our home and went full time last year, using the Escapees mail forwarding service in Texas as well. We've had no issues at all with vehicle registration, voting, etc. since doing that. We previously had a PMB address in the town we lived in, and it wasn't good enough to buy and register a new truck. The Escapees address fixed all of it for us.

Full-timing for 2 years, no problems with Texas Escapees address. I voted, got an auto loan, have credit cards, brokerages accounts, renewed my pass port, etc. Not happy about changing my address with Escapees, due to USPS regulations.

How often must you go back to Texas? Does Texas tax retirement income? And what about auto inspection and insurance? Thanks for replying.....

I don’t think there is a requirement to stay or return to Texas. Life long Texas resident . However, we over winter in Texas, so no concern. Thats when we do doctor appts. , get tags for vehicles, vote etc. No state income tax in Texas. No auto inspections required as of Jan. 1, 2025.

You don't have to go back to Texas - especially after Jan 1 when the vehicle inspection requirement expires. No, Texas does not have personal income tax. If your vehicles are registered in Texas (part of establishing domicile), the insurance policy will be a Texas insurance policy. We are with USAA and had zero issues (and they knew we were full-timers).
