A first-time RV owner asked whether roof bubbles on a new 2026 Grand Design Transcend XPLOR 26BHX were acceptable after receiving no response to two manufacturer inquiries. Several members described similar bubbles as normal or expected, including one who reported that Grand Design attributed theirs to adhesive off-gassing and that the bubbles were mostly gone after three years.

Members generally favored monitoring rather than immediate repair, with suggestions to avoid puncturing the...

Hello, first time owning an RV. Purchased a 2026 Grand Design Transcend XPLOR 26BHX from Blue Compass in San Marcos, CA in July 2026. I noticed these bubbles on my roof. I've submitted an inquiry to Grand Design through their Ask an Expert system in the Contact Us page on their website twice. Haven't heard back. First inquiry was sent a few weeks ago, I followed up again yesterday with a second. Was hoping to see if anyone has had any experience with this and could give their opinion about the bubbles. Would these be considered acceptable? Should I be concerned?

Those bubbles look acceptable they should lay down over time your RV is still settling in. Keep an eye on them and don’t poke a hole in them. My RV had the same issue early in its life.

I have a 2023 transcend 245rl. During the pdi I checked the roof and didn’t see any bubbles or wrinkles. After getting it home a few days I saw a few bubbles like yours and between the decking across the width of trailer.

Sent an email with photos to grand design who replied all normal and they may come and go as the glue off gases. Seems temperature changes made them fluctuate.

They were apparently correct as after 3 years they are mostly gone.

Save any correspondence you get from grand design just in case of future issue after warranty. But I would think they will settle down in time. Just IMO.

I don't call them normal but expected. The only thing I would say is to keep an eye on them since they are on the front. Be sure that sealant continues to cover that front edge. The front would be a very easy place for the roof to start separating from the sealant.

I would accept it and monitor closely. And keep all communications with GD or the dealer as others have said.

I actually opened a case with grand design. They requested pictures and I got the “it’s normal response”. So I have a case number to refer back to.

One thing I don’t like in your pictures is the sealant. Looks like they really poured it on there. Looks layered as if multiple applications? That is a really sloppy application. I wonder if that was from the factory or if the dealer applied it like that as a touch up?

You should see my roof

I go through a tube quite often, overlapping old sealant and ensuring zero leaks

It doesn’t need to look good. It needs to work

Hello ,we've had our GD 3503GK just a couple years and while on a 4,000 mile trip this summer midway through noticed bubbles in front 6-7' didn't think much of it another two or so days down the road pull in for gas in a wind and rain storm and a gentlemen warned me the whole front of my roof was coming up. Had two buy material from Home Depot and batten down as we were long way from home, after making it back home contracted GD Pretty much said out of warranty. So now dealing with my insurance because it needs new roor$$$$. Just be careful watch it carefully.
