Roof vents: Any known issues with them?

I've been reading on some other RV forums about some of the roof vents cracking/breaking. I'm going to be doing some roof work this week (just re-sealing with Eternabond, touching up Dicor, etc.) but was wondering if I should replace the roof vents. It seems all the RV manufacturers use the same components, so wouldn't be surprised if this was the case with the roof vents as well.

Have any of you run into any problems with them cracking or breaking?

We've had our rig almost 2 years. Stored outdoors, and travel every month. Had no issues with roof vents yet. Although I can see the bathroom vent cover getting ripped off in a high wind, headed right for it.

No issues in 18 months, but it spends off time in carport and I have vent covers over every vent. The covers are fantastic. You can leave your vent open anytime, even when raining or driving.

What vent covers do you have?

Maxxair. There are two sizes. One for standard vent/fan, and one for the Maxxair fan. I think it fits the fantastic fan vent also. Easy to install.

On my Keystone Cougar, the vent covers disintegrated in 12 months in the Arizona sun. It was so brittle. But my Grand Design's vents are two years old and look pristine.

7 years very few problems. Fans quit. Rain Sensors go bad. Seals come loose. But I have yet to have one crack. I have had them oxidize, took a little polish to them and they cleared up, kind of like your headlight covers on a vehicle.

If the sealant is applied correctly around the base they never leak.

If you decide to put a cover over them it's an easy install, generally not requiring any sealant.

I have never had any excitement over roof vents.
