Wondering about the safety of running my generator overnight. Paranoid about co, in that it’s located right under the forward sleeping compartment. Anyone done this and lived to tell about it? Lol.
I do it all the time. Assuming your someplace where its allowed and/or not disturbing others.Wondering about the safety of running my generator overnight. Paranoid about co, in that it’s located right under the forward sleeping compartment. Anyone done this and lived to tell about it? Lol.
Actually, they were in the kitchen, same as our TT is now.You already have a carbon monoxide detector in the bedroom. Just test it before turning in for the night. Make sure you keep the windows closed.
Just ran our genny for 18 hours under the overhang near the drivers side, exhaust pointed out toward the open air. I've seen people put them under a slide out also, again exhaust pointed out toward the open air.Wondering about the safety of running my generator overnight. If you have a smoke detector in the bedroom it's most likely also a CO detector... the propane/CO detector is usually in the kitchen.Actually, they were in the kitchen, same as our TT is now.

We do it for 10 or 11 nights when camping at the Daytona 500 and also for 5 or 6 nights at the Dover Delaware race... never been any problem. What’s the middle red container, to the left of the genie…never seen before…curiosity only.We do it for 10 or 11 nights when camping at the Daytona 500 and also for 5 or 6 nights at the Dover Delaware race... never been any problem. Here's our setup under the front of the 5er.View attachment 111132
All GD have a CO detector in the bedroom, but it is not a smoke detector...or so I was told. Our Reflection bedroom detector is only CO.If you have a smoke detector in the bedroom it's most likely also a CO detector... the propane/CO detector is usually in the kitchen.
The detector on the ceiling is NOT co, they're mounted on the wall close to the floor.Well then. I guess it’s ok! Didn’t occur to me that the detector on the ceiling was co. Thanks for all the responses.
Totally agree. We haven't run our generator in over two years with the solar and Lithium battery upgrades and we have a super quiet Yamaha. We try and avoid camping locations where people run their generators all hours of the day or night.I'm surprised so many folks find running a generator overnight routine.
When my wife complained, I repeatedly found ways to make mine quieter, until I realized if she could hear it at all, it was too loud.
We've been to the Formula 1 track outside Austin, realize looking for quiet is hopeless there, but most of the time we're looking for places where we can hear the sounds of the forest.
So our solution involves solar panels and battery banks.
