Looking at getting/replacing my current GPS that is a regular GPS, not for RV's for our trips, looking at them, more suitable for RV travel if they actually work as advertised, like I said have not had one. Question got brought up earlier to day talking to friends about propane restricted routes, would that be a good option to have or nice to have if you can get it on the GPS. Thanks Hootie

plan ahead for your travels. if the destination is a route where propane bottles will be a issue, then taken them out or carry then empty. The GPS we have, picks the routes for the type of RV that is programed in it. Normally if a track trailer can be on the route then we might be okay for length and height issues, and just maybe propane. We bought a GARMIN with blue tooth and a back up camera to go with it. Ask about prewiring for a back camera on your new rig and ask about the prewire for a solar panel system too. You might like what you hear and see.

With the same concerns as Hootie we upgraded to the Garmin 760 LMT for RV's. Lot's of features we've found helpful while pulling our Solitude. Just my 2 cents.

I purchased a Rand McNally RV GPS through Camping World. The first one was dead out of the box. The second one worked, but we didn't care for it at all. The screen was so dim, that it was almost useless. It routed us down dirt roads, even when we had it programmed not to. We wound up selling it through another RV forum for 1/2 of what we paid for it.

I'd suggest you go to Amazon.com, and do a search on "RV GPS". Read the reviews. The Rand McNally has horrid ratings. We much prefer the Garmin 760LMT.

We have started looking into dedicated RV GPS units, and they all seem to have their quirks and issues, with some being worse than others. The trucking world shares many of the concerns that the RV world does, and we are looking at products that can cross over to the other application too. I'm hoping to have some recommendations in the next few months.

Good info, thanks, does anyone have a RV GPS which has the restricted propane routes on it.
