RV/Truck newbies here and need some advice.

I share some of your concerns. We have a 2020 Yukon XL Denali that we love. We also love the Transend 240ml. We are negotiating a deal 1300 miles away. I am concerned about rear kitchen due to this model being rear heavy. Trying to come up with ways to put more weight in front of axles. One major consideration is the location of the fresh water tank and whether to fill if in front of axles or drain if behind axles. I believe a ProPride 3P hitch would be the ultimate solution. I own an Equalizer and wonder if I can do my 1300 mile trip to get it home, so I have more time to find a used ProPride 3P. Any ideas appreciated.

It would be better to ask a question or state your concerns in a new thread

Imo pro pride hitches are a bandaid to a bad towing setup
If you need a hitch like that you have the wrong equipment

I don't know about everyone else but we didn't keep out 1st travel trailer very long before we found something we liked better.
Problem was I had bought a 1/2 ton truck with too little payload for my new trailer (5th wheel, long story won't bore you with the details of that). I learned and later made better decisions.

Since you are going to buy a truck anyway, why not step up a little to a 3/4 ton and give yourself some wiggle room should you decide to buy a larger trailer down the road?
As I read in another response in this thread, you might even consider a 1 ton. Good advice.
I know all of this can be confusing for beginners but you made a good decision asking people who only have your best interest at heart.

My advice costs nothing and sometimes that's about all it's worth too. :)
And you can get the max tow package in the 2500 which is the same as a 3500 but titled as a 2500

The setup doesn't matter if one is rear heavy. A rear heavy trailer will sway on a ball hitch, regardless of the tow vehicle. The resulting crash may kill the driver, loved ones and others. It is purely physics.

One can compensate by trying to change the loading, which can be done on my trailer by filling my fresh water tank, which is in front of my axles.

A good hitch setup represents an ounce of prevention,"smart towing". So, why not get the best hitch? Oh, I get it - the cost means more than the safety to some. Some people will risk their lives and the lives of their loved ones to save a buck. If you cannot afford the safest and the best system for connecting a trailer and a truck rated to tow it, you shouldn't be towing. I have been full-time RVer for 16 years and have encountered my fail share of woefully ignorant, unprepared and uneducated RVers. Good luck to you!

P.S. I am a "newbie" on this Forum. Thanks for the advice, but I got my answer from another who pulls the same trailer.

Don’t buy a rear heavy trailer if you care about your family if that is the line you are going to throw at me

Good luck

It is not rear heavy with a full fresh tank. It will be safe, but I am still getting a ProPride 3P. What is your problem?
No problem at all but I gave my opinion on a propride and you attacked me saying I care more about money than my family did you not?
My mid kitchen trailer tows like a rail car behind my truck
I would never ever buy a rear kitchen model. They shouldn’t even be made in a travel trailer

Good luck. Happy camping

So, you don't like ProPride or Hensley, I assume. What is your problem with anti-sway hitches? Have you studied the physics incorporated into the hitch or just don't like them "because". I don't like yellow, but I wouldn't attack or criticize someone because they have a yellow RV or truck.

You initiated an "attack" on me, accusing me of using what you called a "band aid" because my setup, in your opinion, is wrong. If I choose to use a ProPride, who are you to say that I "need" one as a "band aid"? What is so wrong about some extra caution? Have you studied the dynamics of my trailer? Is it 10#, 100# or 1000# rear heavy? Please tell me, as you seem to know so much about my proposed setup? Do know where the fridge is located in the trailer I am going to be buying? Do you know exactly what is behind the axles on this trailer? Do you know where the fresh water tank is located and how large it is? If you cannot answer these questions, why would you reply to my post? I was looking for facts, not your opinion.

The purpose of my initial post was to get information on where the fresh water tank is located and ideas on adding to hitch weight to counter rear weight, which I have come to believe, from another reply on another thread, is not a problem that cannot be rectified by proper loading. Your reply was not helpful, just critical. I am sure you keep your loved ones safe. How did it feel to get a taste of your own medicine?

The banner says you are a Senior Member and a Site Sponsor. That should make you particularly careful about not insulting and criticizing Junior Members. My banner says NEW MEMBER. A post welcoming me to the Forum, rather than criticizing my setup and my reply to a 4 year old post would have been appropriate and appreciated.
