RV Winter Skirt Question

It seems we are staying in some colder places so we are considering a Skirt for the RV.

Prices are all over the place. I've seen them from under $500 to over $3,500 (custom designed for the rig.) I've talked with some folks that build their own using 2x4s 1" foam board. I don't want to carry something like that around with me.

Anyone with any experience with RV skirts that can weigh in?

Thanks

For years I used the EZ Snap system. It was a good skirt. My only issue with it was that when the wind really got heavy, the button snaps would pop off or otherwise fail. I was thinking that if I ever did put together another skirt system in a higher wind area I'd buy the skirt from EZ Snap and maybe use a turn buckle system to attach to the rig.

As for securing the bottom, EZ snap recommends laying 1 inch plastic a pipe around the rig and securing with plastic clip on fasteners. Your results with that may vary. Since I am stationary for long periods, what worked well for me was to install gromets on the skirt and use spike style tent stakes.

The problem with the 2×4 & foamboard route for us is, we move around a lot and not just trying to carry the stuff but depending on where we are at, the ground to the bottom of the trailer changes in each spot we are. I have decided to bite the bullet this fall and spend the big bucks for a high quality custom skirting. I figured if I pay the premium, I should only have to buy it once and should last till I can't tow anymore. Jmo.

I am leaning this direction too. Which one did you go with?

Have you looked at air skirts?
