We lost another of our family ,this time it was sudden and unexpected. Skye passed away last Sunday night . Could likely have been a blood clot ,but we'll likely never know.. It's a pretty quiet place with only one dog in the trailer. She had a short but happy 5 yr life .

Sorry to hear about your loss. It's really terrible to lose them. We just lost our 14 year old Cat to Cancer last week. He was the favorite of our two cats in the house. My granddaughter and wife were VERY upset about it. Well, we all were but those two more so as he. followed my wife everywhere, and my granddaughter whenever she is here. Unfortunately, our other cat (about 16) is not doing well either. :(

Sorry for you loss too. It's hard losing them. Even harder when they go so close in time. We put Koda down in late '19, last year it was Gizmo we put down and now Skye... Yeah I'm having a little pity party, trying hard to get past it. Belle has never been an only dog so she's struggling too.

Sorry to hear that. 5 is so young. We lost a 4 yr old dog once...it's way too soon when you assume you'll have them for a lot longer. We're currently in what is likely the last weeks for one of our dogs, but at 16 she's lived a good long life. Never easy though.

Marcy, I'm so sorry to read/hear this. Our furry friends become such an integral part of our daily lives. I simply cannot or do not want to imagine that day when our Rossi passes. I already know that I will instantly become a basket-case and so will Peggy, my wife.....it's just unimaginable to me.

And "pity party" times are perfectly acceptable when we lose someone so close to our hearts.

Yeah..... 5yrs old is way to young for a pet to pass. Unfortunately, its hard to prepare for such a loss. Especially if they are a playmate for another dog.

Our 15yr old Jack Russell had to be finally put down last month due to her chronic kidney issues. She was the smartest dog we have ever had. It was very hard choice to make, and would of much rather her go naturally. But she had too much heart to give up on her own, and the vet said that there wasnt much more they could do for her. Very difficult none the less.

So sorry you'll be going through it too. 16 is a nice long life. Gizmo was 18 when his time came last year. I had a cat several years ago that was 24 or 25 , we lost track after so many..I was a real basket case after that one

Sorry for your loss. It really surprised me just how much it hurt to lose our pooch after 12 years. My wife and I grew up on hobby farms and pets were just never quite the family members to us kids as they became after we were adults. Hard times for sure. Hang in there.

So sorry to hear that! We lost our dog Oliver last Nov unexpectedly. Finally able to see pictures and talk about him without tears.

Marcy, so sorry to hear. We've lost our share of dogs and cats including one of our Collies at six - all unique members of the family. The past two years we've lost one of a pair of shepherd/heeler mix (Cosmo) and two cats - including our 19 yo favorite. Losing Cosmo was very hard as we were on our first trip with the trailer out to Sioux Falls and had taken him to the vet the day before we left because we knew something was wrong. Turned out he was diabetic. One of our boys was giving him insulin shots and IV fluids to see if he could keep him alive until DW returned - she was glued to him. Constant phone calls and cutting the stressful trip short. A couple of days after we got home, we had to take him to the vets in a constant seizure - felt like the longest trip ever. DW still tears up as do I. All you can do is remember the good.

Sorry for your loss as well. This is the 4th dog in 10 years we have lost 3 aged out @ 13, 14 and 18 (the 3rd since '20, all in FL) . We can all cry together. Each leave a special place in all of us.
Now we are working on Belle to get her used to being the only dog in her short 4.5 yrs she has never been the only one. It is quite the adjustment for her. too.
