Samsung Fridge Winter Storage

I am preparing our 2021 Solitude 378MBS for winter storage. We have a Samsung fridge. I’ve successfully winterized the ice maker, but am concerned about mold or mildew growth in the fridge over the winter. With previous RVs I simply propped the doors open in storage, but this floorplan has the fridge tight against the island when closed up, plus I cannot access the fridge once the slides are in to attempt opening the doors at all.

Are there any items that can be placed into a closed, unpowered residential fridge to help with mildew mitigation? Damp Rid, baking soda, charcoal…has anyone successfully used any of these or another item?

EDIT to add:
The forum software is now suggesting a thread from 2023 to me that is similar (I didn’t previously find that one in a search). The suggestion in that thread was to use desiccant packs, which I will try.

We previously had a 377 (the 378 predecessor) with the Samsung. There was enough space to the island to slightly prop open the doors. I flipped the flapper between the french doors to the closed position while the doors were open and then closed the doors. That would hold the doors just enough to prevent them from sealing to the box. On the freezer I used one of those spring loaded brackets that can be used in the fridge to prevent food from moving around to hold the drawer just off the seals.

Maybe yours is closer than mine was but it only takes a 1/2" or so to prevent the doors/drawer from sealing.

Is it possible to leave the slide out? I wouldn't store a fridge while off and completely closed. There's enough space in our 310 between the fridge and kitchen island to prop the doors open a couple of inches and secure them with a soft bungee through the handles.

We've stored ours closed for the last three winters. I put 4 boxes of Arm & Hammer (the kind with the flow thru screen) in the refrig section and another 4 in the freezer. I run the refrig until winter shut down. Minimal wipe down in the spring and no stale smell. The damp rid bags inside the RV have been completely full and seems there is more humidity inside of the RV than in the fridge no matter how many damp rid bags I hang.

Interesting…I will check again to see if I can get the doors open at all. Unfortunately I can’t even get to the fridge with the slides in, but perhaps I can close them with me in there to play with it. Thanks for your insight.

I have to store it closed due to being in a storage facility with limited space. But I’m going to reexamine the door propping possibility. Thank you for the reply.

Thank you for your reply. I currently have two tubs of Damp Rid in the fridge and freezer. I’m going to explore whether there is any room to slightly prop the doors open, but if not I’ll add some boxes of baking soda.
