Seam seperation on theater seating

You can hand stitch it back together.
Use a curved needle (they're pretty big) and some very fine fishing line. Another option is to find a tough polyester thread in the same color as the leather.

We have a small seperation on a seam on the recliner. What is the fix for this material?

Hi Paul and Jacque (@BGandME),

In most cases a qualified upholsterer can repair. Unfortunately, there are a limited number of folks participating in this trade (furniture upholstery repair).

Please contact our Customer Service team if you need further assistance.

Best regards,

same thing in my Momentum......weird, so more than a few of us and mine is with very limited use also. Is there a quality issue?

I have that problem also, if you look at where it tears or seems come loose there is a square piece of plywood with sharp edge hitting the seems when you set on your theater chair or couch. It looks to me that if they had rounded the corners on the wood it would fix the problem.

use dental floss for thread. Dental floss will not wear out as easy and will not get moldy like regular fabric does. Dental Floss is already waxed and will thread and pass thorough the leather seats easier. In the military we use dental floss on guile suits to keep them together while in rough terrain.

Hi @tc3271,

Grand Design discovered the issue with the square corner some time ago, and had LCI/Seat Tech begin rounding the edge (similar to your suggestion).

I have the same thing happening to me on my theater seating and my couch recliner. I'm going to call customer service at GD after the new years and let them know about it but I am in Florida and won't get it fixed till this summer when we get back to Michigan.

I had this problem on the double recliner where the are seam seperated and the corner of the seat by the arm there is a sharp edge of plywood the wore through the material. After a few e-mail and pictures and wanting us to measure the size of the recliners ( you would think they would know the size when you give them the Model number of the unit) but we measured and than about a couple of weeks later GD sent us the one recliner. Now the other recliner is starting wear through at the plywood edge.
