I’m new to this forum. My husband and I love to RV and have a 2010 Cougar FW 276RLS. We’re considering upgrading to a 2022 Grand Design Reflection FW, 303RLS. Any opinions, thoughts, or helpful advice regarding the quality of Grand Design and this model? Thanks for the help - Kendell

Thanks for joining. We have a good group of members here. You will get a lot of helpful information.

I think you are going to find a lot of folks who have that floor plan and like it. While our floor plan is a bit different, we like that the diner is on the passenger side (patio side of RV sites).

We are happy with our 2021 303RLS. We bought it new and there has not been much in the way of issues to fix. I called customer service three times. Twice I was well taken care of. Once I got an idiot on the phone....Overall I would say they have good customer service...but not perfect.

Welcome to the forum. We're all a bit biased here since we are already GD owners . But that is a popular floor plan on the forum, I'm sure you would be happy with one.

We love the 303RLS floor plan, I guess it is known as the couples trailer. It is great for two people with a occasional
guest. We bought a mattress topper for the fold out bed in back and that has worked out well for our friend that comes along once in a while. Our trailer is a 2020 model and we had some frame cracks right above the spring hangers within the first 6 months of ownership. Lippert had a repair procedure for this and paid to have a shop in my area fix it. We have had to replace 2 axel and spring sets because I think the 5200lb axles are a little light for this rig. Dexter was very good about sending replacements but would not upgrade to 6k because they said it would void my warranty with Grand Design who speced out the 5200lb axels. I talked to Grand Design and they pointed fingers at Dexter and said they called out the axel size. I finally installed the Roadmaster kit and have had no more axel and spring problems in the last 20,000 miles. Other than a few simple fixes we have had very good luck with this rig. I have owned rv’s for the last 40 years and we keep our rigs for many years. The reason we gave up our last one is because we really liked this floor plan and it is very comfortable for long trips.

Has anyone experienced the flex frame issue with their Grand Design Reflection?

I forgot to mention that when I installed the Roadmaster kit, I also went with new 7K axels. I was constantly bending the 5.2k axels. The thickness of the tube on the 7K axels was much thicker and that solved the problem. The 7K spindles worked fine with all my brake drums.

I believe the flex frame issues are on the Solitudes and Momentums, not the Reflections.

We've been in our 303 since 2014 using it extensively but not quite full time.. we stiill love it!
Flex is not an issue with the 303 and haven't heard of problems in the Reflection line. Frame construction is different than the Momentum and Solitude Drop frame that have had problems.
Get the 303 and have a blast

Welcome, we are also 2022, 303 owners and bought new. Very happy and also like that the dining table is on the door side. Half of the fridge and the bathroom are accessible without opening the slides which is a plus for us. We are not full timers but have used it a lot. Ours has the propane/elec fridge and has been trouble free. Good luck on your decision.

I often wonder why some people have the experience you report...and then me..loaded up plus pulling a boat..10's of 1000's of miles and no axle problems at all.

Might also consider a 295RL. Its the same size and layout but no bedroom slide and the bath only has one entrance from hallway. Its also about 1000 lbs lighter.

Frame flex is mostly an issue with the larger, heavier units like the Solitudes and Momentum fifth wheels. I personally have not seen any cases with the smaller Reflections. The frames for Grand Design are made by Lippert (LCI). Lippert supplies the frames - to the RV manufacturers specifications - for the vast majority of fifth wheel RVs on the market (all brands).

If you look on Facebook, there is a group called "Grand Design Major issue". They raise problems with every Grand Design RV. I have a 2021 240RL and I had to get the I beam on both side fixed has it had frame failure around the wheel and shackle. My Grand Design dealer had no way of fixing this but Grand Design paid for the repair once I had it done.

We love our 303RLS and picked this brand and make/model on purpose. It has great features and a nice layout. I would highly recommend. I've done a host of upgrades to it and have it tweaked just the way we like it now.

I have a Reflection travel trailer. We had quite a few issues out of the gate. A few were directly GD issues but most were third party equipment (fireplace, refrigerator, etc). Because we had so many problems, GD sent a truck to come pick up our unit in MN and bring it back to IN for repair of issues, as well as to perform another inspection to make sure nothing else was found. All of this was at no cost to us. While we were frustrated out of the gate, we felt like that they provided good service! We have been problem free ever since. Unfortunately we had an accident a little over a week ago while traveling south for the holidays. It sounds like our camper is going to be deemed totaled. If so, our plan is to buy another GD.
