Seeking opinion on Reflection model

I’m new to this forum. My husband and I love to RV and have a 2010 Cougar FW 276RLS. We’re considering upgrading to a 2022 Grand Design Reflection FW, 303RLS. Any opinions, thoughts, or helpful advice regarding the quality of Grand Design and this model? Thanks for the help - Kendell
I may have purchased the one problem GD Solitude 2930. Love the floor plans GD has however, bought it new December 2023. On my second refrigerator, and even that one failed, then about 6 hrs later it started working again (unknown why). I had 1 slide break in the open position, belly had lots of water from a leak the dealer can't seem to locate. Have repaired furnace twice, seams needed to be resealed and several pieces of trim have fallen off. The chandelier light over the kitchen counter came loose, I was able to fix it on the road before it crashed to the floor. I can't speak for anyone else but my experience has not been the best. On the plus side, we really like some of the features and the layout. Hope we can get a few trips trouble free so our confidence level returns.

We love our 303RLS and picked this brand and make/model on purpose. It has great features and a nice layout. I would highly recommend. I've done a host of upgrades to it and have it tweaked just the way we like it now.
What upgrades have you done?

Changed out flooded batteries and replaced with 560 aH of LiP04 batteries, replaced OEM Furrion solar panels with 800 watts of solar (Renogy), replaced Furrion solar controller with Victron Solar Controller for more visibility into the solar charging via Bluetooth, added solar disconnect switch, added Victron shunt monitor to monitor the battery status, upgraded the converter/charger to 120A lithium capable and relocated to the front compartment for ease of maintenance, added 2000 watt inverter, automatic transfer switch for the inverter prep, added in surge protector unit with bypass switch, added Star Link (converted from AC to run on DC without the inverter), added variable speed water pump controller to eliminate the on-demand hammering of the OEM water pump (since we only boondock and depend on our water pump for all our trips), added shocks to help better cushion the ride, added X-factor braces and spring shackle U braces, added Lippert air pin box, added TPMS sensors synced to my truck to monitor tire pressure and temperature, added remote cable and valve for dumping the fresh water tank ( no more climbing under the camper to dump the fresh water), added additional locking handles to the storage compartment, changed out the front basement cabinet locks to the more unique style round ones that everyone doesn't have a key to, re-mounted the TV slightly higher and then added a sound bar and wireless powered subwoofer, added power cord reel, built a sliding drawer for the basement which opens from both sides to store the smoker, griddle, and other necessary camping items, added aux phone charging USB jacks in the camp side basement storage area near the Star Link switches, added vent covers on all the vents, added soft start AC capacitors to both AC units, added additional shelving to some of the cabinets, replaced bathroom sink an facet with home type, added Sleep Number dual chamber bed and added heavier duty gas struts to hold the new weight of the mattress up, swapped out the TWH motherboard for the one with freeze protection, added sharkbite valves to both fresh water drains to ensure water is not lost during transit to our campsites, added sharkbite shutoff valves to the low point drains for ease of winterizing, sealed the underbelly against air leaks and mice, and added LED lighting into the pantry cabinet which lights up all the shelves from front to back. I think those were the main things in the last two years that we've had it. Love the unit to death and plan to keep it into retirement.

Can you please share more on your design of this sliding drawer, my husband thinks that is a fantastic idea and want to build one as well! Thank you

Sure---it was pretty basic and simple but works well and was way cheaper than the metal pre-made ones that others are buying. I made it out of plywood, garage door rollers and garage door tracks. Then I painted it with a tough enamel paint. I also added spring-loaded locks in the track to hold it in place during travel. It can slide out either side and it holds allot of weight like my Pit Boss smoker and Blackstone griddle. It's very functional and helpful addition.

Oh my gosh!! You have done so many awesome upgrades. I’d love it to death, too!
Yeah---once we fell in love with the model, quality, and floorplan, I began to upgrade the little things to make it ours. It's been fun and it works well for the way we use it off-grid.

Thank you for sharing - my husband loves this idea!

We also have a 303RLS, 2019. Have had no serious issues and only very few very minor issues. We haven’t done anywhere near the mods that COGrandDes has. I would absolutely buy another Grand Design based on our experience. I think it’s really hard to beat the 303 floor plan.

Good Luck!

Mark

You're welcome! It's kinda like making a house a home. :) It's the little special things that make it unique and tailored to what you like or how it's used.
