I am going to install new Lippert self adjusting brakes tomorrow on our Imagine 3100RD. I have researched everything I can think of, to include getting the proper back plates from Lippert, watching their installation videos, reading online opinions and getting all necessary tools etc. Does anyone have any insight on potential issues or issues they have encountered installing this type of brake? Thanks.

You are aware brake assemblies are left and right handed?

The self adjusting brakes really install little differently from standard brakes.

Be sure you have plenty of paper towels, brake part cleaner and nitrile gloves. Cardboard for the floor. Grease is hard to control.

I’d suggest jacking the trailer up after some driving to make sure the brakes don’t over adjust. Non-concentricity of the drums or poor machining can allow the brakes to adjust too much.

Jack carefully and stay out from under the trailer when it’s lifted. Do the wiring after the wheel is back on.

I’ve boogered a couple of seals over the years. You’ll find good quality seals are available at most local auto parts stores if you need one.

I think I have all of your comments covered, I have jack stands for the axle and frame. I intend to do one wheel at a time, to minimize potential 'ouch' concerns. Thanks for your comments.
