We are in a 30 amp site and I don't want to trip the ems. Sometimes it seems like a Green Acres episode with what can be running at the same time.

Is the rv wired to have some outlets not on the same circuit as the fireplace?

We sometimes use the outlet for the dryer to run an electric heater in the bedroom. It's a dedicated circuit. The 30a at the pedestal is your real limitation.

I'm sorry I don't have an answer but thank you for a good laugh, I remember Green Acres....show was funny!!! lol

That’s a valid point on the 30 amp service. I’ve heard of some people sneaking in a cord through the slide if you’ve got a 20 amp outlet in the pedestal. Use that for the heater then.

In our last 5th wheel I put in a 20 amp receptacle that was hooked to a 30 amp extension cord. I plugged it in to the outlet mentioned on the pedestal and used it for an electric heater and then it didn't effect the 30 amp service in the 5th.

The 20 amp in pedestal is tied into the the 30 amp. I plugged in a heater to it and my ems voltages dropped.

I was going to do the extension cord to plug idea for a dedicated 20 amp plug inside.....

It’s probably fed off the same cable in the pedestal, but it’s not on the 30 amp breaker. Your voltage may drop, but at least you won’t pop the pedestal breaker in the middle of the night.

On another note:

We just use the propane heater. We get more heat and don't have to worry about voltage levels. You didn't mention freezing temps, but I would rather pay for propane than work on a busted pipe.

FYI when on 30 amp, run your fridge and water heater on propane too. It frees up a lot of amperage.

I know, I know, I sound like a propane salesman.

Thanks, but it is my EMS that will shut everything down before the breaker pops.....keeps it from going to low on amps and messing up anything inside.....

I have a similar EMS, I didn't realize the voltage was dropping that low. Not a good sign for the size of wire they're using for sure.

Sure does! LOL We have a 100 gallon propane tank so that is thought.....about 2 bucks per gallon to fill. Looks like i am going through about 7 gallons a week (best guess with there gauge) and that is right on par with last year when i was filling a 30 lber a week. I am sure i will go through more as it gets even colder. We just like a little supplemental heat as an option....we are paying for electric....don't ask how much.....makes me nuts. But this should be the last full winter in Pa!
