We are getting ready to spend 5 days at Sequoia RV Ranch just outside of Three Rivers. Planning on taking day trips around the area, we were wondering if there are any don't miss points of interest other than the General

We have camped at Dorst Creek every year for the last 5. It's gods country. If you got to the giant forest by the museum there is a road that goes to Moro rock and crescent meadow. The drive is about 3 miles amongst groves of giant sequoias. Creasnt meadow is a great 2 hour hike. We have seen lots of dear and even an occasional black bear. The big tree trail near the museum is about a mile and all paved but again, lots of spectacular giants sequoias. Tokapa falls trail at lodge pole campground is another great hike. Have a great time and take lots of pics

Thanks for the description Gary and Jo! Sequoia National Park is on my "to-camp-in" list :)

Boomer, How was the trip? We are heading up in July but staing up in the park ( Dorst Creek). I was wondering how it is up there this time of year?

It was fantastic!! I've been pretty much around the world as a US Naval Aviator, but I can truly say that I have never seen anything like the grandeur and size of these old giant trees. Took the short hike to the General Sherman tree, it gave me goosebumps to be standing there with this tree that has been around for 3200 years. Sequoia NP is not played up like Yosemite but IMHO it is just as great a piece of this earth. I hope we cherish and maintain these for all the future generations.

1st off thank you so much for your service!! Our son is the Navy and currently stationed in Pearl Harbor. We are very proud of him.
5 years ago we came across Dorst creek campground and starting hiking the areas around the Giant Forest. We come back every year. Its truly majestic. Some of those trees were there over 2000 years ago!!! Glad you had a great trip. I will post some pics of our trip later this summer—taking the whole family including 5 grandkids!! AND ONE NEW BABY ( our solitude)
