Is it OK to plug into shore power with the battery disconnected? I have my battery disconnected when in storage and would like to plug in to shore power once in a while.

Understand that using the factory battery disconnect does not disconnect everything (propane and CO monitors, for example). You are likely to return to storage and find a dead battery after a few weeks. If you want to keep the battery from draining, the best thing to do is disconnect the negative cable from the battery altogether.

Now, while there's no harm in plugging into shore power with the battery disconnected, I can't think of any good reasons to do so. That's the only way the battery gets charged unless you have solar. The converter/chargers are automatic, multi-stepping charges that will not overcharge your battery. Either way, you'll still need to check the battery electrolyte at regular intervals.

RV is disconnected at the battery terminals and have a battery tender charging. I would like to use shore power now and then without having to pull the tender off and wire up the batteries to the RV. Hence my question, is using shore power with wires to the batteries disconnected OK? Or is there an electrical reason to connect the wires to the batteries when using shore power (other than charging)?

Yes, it is safe. The converter won't sense a load so it won't put anything out.
