Slide outs moving when raising jacks

Last time we went out, our slides were moving when raising the jacks. Tried many things, got frustrated and called the dealer and the sales rep. We ended up bypassing the slides to get the trailer folded up and went on our trip, dealer thinks there is trash of some kind in the lines. Everything works ok now, but our dealer is going to charge me to look at this even though the trailer is under warranty. Very frustrating as I have had to fix items myself while traveling and when our trailer has gone in for warranty work the dealer says some things are better off if I fix them because Grand Design wont authorize repairs.

Sounds like it's time for GD to step in and make it right. They have your back even if the dealer is giving you the runaround. Wouldn't it great if dealers got fined like NFL players get fined (suspension might be counter productive but I bet it would get the message across) when it's determined they committed a blatant and intentional foul against the consumer.

Dealers are the thorn in the side of the manufacturers. It is amazing a "service" industry can be so bad all over the U.S.

Hi @gtcoleman,

May I ask you to add your 17-digit RV VIN to the "About Me" section of your forum profile, or send me a private message with your name, phone number and 17-digit RV VIN? We would need that information to research your concerns. Thank you in advance...

Best regards,
~ Janice

Mine has been at dealer for 3 weeks when I called today the service advisor told me the repairs had not been approved and it was going to be around a thousand dollars to fix !!!! One call to GD the dealership called 20 mins later and told me they were able to get the problems approved for repair,, I told her that I knew because I had just got of the phone with GD ;-) there was a long pause and silence on the other end of the line. I am in the service a
Industry ( commercial air conditioning) and I know warranty tactics exercised by other service companies, obviously the RV service industry is no different I can tell you I have never seen a company stand up for their product like GD does, it is rare these days !!

Hello Janice, I have updated my information with our vin number. Hopefully you will be able to help us out.

Thanks

Glenn

Hi Glenn (@gtcoleman),

Thank you for adding your unit information! The conditions you describe can be caused by debris in the hydraulic system or by a bad metering valve (located on the doorside, front jack leg in the LP compartment). Both are warrantable items.

Best regards,
~ Janice

Hi Janice, thanks for the reply. My problem is that it does not happen all the time and the dealer is going to charge me to look at the unit but if they cannot replicate the problem then I am stuck with the bill. They already have tried to do this once and we complained about it to them. I need to get this fixed before my warranty runs out, but it is getting to be a pain in our sides at the selling dealer ship.

All I will say is they are located in Surprise AZ, I spoke with J.D at Grand Design, very nice guy and knew the problem right away and suggested a dealer in Prescott AZ. I bit of a drive but worth it to me for good service. I have to schedule a time with them and will let ya know how they do.

Not to go completely off base here, but I LOVE Prescott! When you pick up the coach, sounds lie a 2 for deal to me. You get your coach and you get to visit the higher country.
