The slide out rollers are breaking up the slide floor on my 22MLE. Anyone else have this issue? Also the bottom front Schwintek rail is showing a lot of wear. I've checked the Schwintek TSB and mine is outside of the dates but it is the inverted V design. This is a 2022 model year, we've used it for 8 trips, 77 days. I've contacted Grand Design, they issued a case # and said to take it to a dealer.

Anyone else experience this? Looking for advice.

As far as the slide out floor damage from the rollers, I had the same issue on my 2019 303 kitchen slide. I came across this video on you tube. I did the same thing but used 1/8" abs plastic sheet.
So far it is holding up.

@avf100 Your timing on this could not have been better! After reading this I checked on my main/heaviest slide out and found this.
It looks bigger than it really is, less than 4 inches. I assume the edge of the roller was starting wear into the wood from some nasty washboard roads I have been driving on. I decided to use 1/8 inch UHMW which stands up to extreme temperatures and has a better lubrication factor for the rollers. I have not installed them yet but glad I caught it in time.

Glad you caught it in time.
The last few times I put the slide out there were little tiny slivers of wood and fabric on the floor of the trailer. It was mainly from one roller. I thought that maybe that roller might have been damaged in some way. But it was good.
So maybe it is the bouncing around going down the road that causes the damage.
That material looks like it is better than the abs plastic I used. I'll keep an eye on it and if the abs gets damaged I'll try the uhmw stuff.

What size screws did you use and did you apply any adhesive? I'm thinking 1/2 panheads and silicone caulking will suffice. Plus the silicone will also help keep the screws from backing out.

I used #10 pan head 3/4" long stainless sheetmetal screws phillips, about 6" apart.
I didnt use any silicone or glue. I was going to use glue but then i thought if this doesnt work then i will have a hard time taking them off if they were glued on. My thinking might be wrong,(my wife says it is a lot...LOL), but i dont think there will be any issues with water getting in because they are under the slide.

I did a post on this about 3 years ago, same problems. I used .065 thousands SS because I did not want to change the geometry of the Schwintek slide gears, plus SS is harder than plastic or even steel. I also used 3/4 inch counter sunk SS screws because the slide slides on the floor in places and pan head could damage your floor. I have had this set up for 3 years, no issues.

This seems to be a very similar issue. We’re all having with the 22 year model Grand Design slide boxes using the Shintech system. I tried to report mine to Grand Design, but they pushed me off to the dealer who just said it’s normal wear and tear, and the flaking of the wood is part of what happened. I was also vised. It’s not covered so feel lucky that you got a case number. Very disappointed that it shows where and tear after very little use. I see that some people have hardly use theirs.

I’m not a full-time RV camper. I’m just a long weekend getaway during the spring and fall. I try to stay on top of my Maintenance but there’s really not much you can do except replace the entire wood floor of the slides with some good plywood and then covered with some other kind of treatment. I saw some good ideas.

Most people are on the right thinking the replacement was stainless steel. I wish I would’ve done that along time ago as the screws rust instantly.

Good luck

We also had a problem with the wood under our refrigerator slide out peeling from the rollers on our Solitude. I pulled off the peeling/cracked pieces and then painted the area with some black Flex Seal to keep moisture out of the bare wood. We went on a 3 month trip pulling the slides in and out multiple times a week and it held up perfectly. Haven't seen any more peeling (yet).

I think everyone will run into to this if they extend their rooms out enough. I don't think any of these are designed to run much more than a few thousand times [at most]. Probably a few hundred.

Since I believe that, one of the goals this year is to 'upgrade' mine before it becomes an issue.
