Slide Topper for 293RES or 303RLS

I asked my dealer to install Carefree slide toppers on my new 293RES as that is the brand supplied by Grand Design on the Solitude models. His service manager pointed out an apparent interference on the Kitchen slide that has yet to be resolved. The refrigerator vent panel installed in the upper slide corner (see attached photo) is in the same location specified in the Carefree topper installation instructions for the slide bracket. I believe the same interference exists on the 303RLS model. I have been unable to determine an acceptable mounting arrangement for this slide topper and request a recommendation from Grand Design. On a related note, can the awning channel on the factory installed slide rain gutters be used as a mounting point for the carefree toppers?

We put the bracket along the edge where the flange attaches to the actual slide room.

You need to remove the gutter extensions and then slide the fabric into the channel on the rain gutter.

We've done over a dozen this way already.

Here are some pictures for the slide toppers I had installed. First one is bedroom, regular mounting location, second is kitchen slide, brackets moved up due to refer vents. Dealer had to contact GD for the correct size/location of the brackets. I would not have a slideout without a topper, keeps the trash off the top and the sound of the rain from drumming overhead.

Hi @Wrangler357,

Slide topper awning brackets can be installed on the top horizontal extrusion as long as they are located at the bottom edge (as in the picture posted above ^^ by @luckyd1). That way the mounting screws penetrate the top tube of the outside wall for a good "bite." Hi Don & Judy (@luckeyd1),

Carefree installations require their hardware kit KYJVTL. This is the "tall" bracket" which allows for proper clearance over the top of the slide room for the "stop" or "brake."
