I extend the slide enough to get past the kitchen island , usually about half way and stop to check that nothing has opened or fallen in it's path. I do it for both slides.
Yesterday the kitchen slide didn't make it half way and heard a sharp cracking sound. :frown: Thinking the lower cabinet door is a goner. I get there to look and it was one of my favorite walking sticks broken in half. Guess I turn the top of it into a child's stick and give it to a little nephew. Then get busy carving myself a new one.

Augh,,,, that was a cool walking stick!

That was a nice stick. I don't know what would have been worse, the broken stick or a broken cabinet door. I'm thinking the stick. Replacing the door would probably be easier....

I can relate to the cracking sound. We have one end cabinet door over the sofa that tends to want to open if anything is behind it. So I started putting the slide out and heard a cracking sound as you did. It was my tennis racket bug wacker and a 4 pack of TP squished before I realized. Would not have liked to lose such a nice walking stick....

The door hands down would be easier, I'm at a wood carving event/ gathering now and started on a new stick this morning. Having a quick lunch then back to playing with knives for the afternoon.

Marcy, you're a great carver! Your stick kind of reminds me of the walking stick Cholla cactus, very prevalent when we were at Big Bend Texas.

We have some at The Ranch. I think I may have a few pups starting in our lot. We'll know more when we get back in November.
