Does anyone have the smelly water ? We have had our camper for almost a year and when you first open faucet the water still smells bad . It clears up soon , but the bad smell is still present at first after all this time . Any ideas on this ? thanks

You didn't mention your usage, but we're Fulltimers for over 1 1/12 years in a 380 and have no issue. I change the filter every 6 months and also use a charcoal filter at the inlet. We primarily operate on City Water wherever we are, but I always keep some water in the tank which we use a little weekly and replace, plus I sanitize the tank with bleach annually.

I didn't mention, but as part of my annual deal I do run the chlorinated water thru the pipes to clean them as well.....

coopedw,
What is your water source ? City or well ? And where are you located ?
The "bad smell" is likely sulphur (rotten egg smell) and fairly common in "aged" well water in different parts of the country.

Well water was my thought also. I have seen some well water with sulphur, and when it sits in the line for awhile it will get smelly.

Flint, Michigan water popped in my head too:(

Is it your hot water? If so you need to flush your hot water heater.

Turn your water heater off. Drain all water from system and fresh water tank. Mix 1 cup bleach to a gallon water add to fresh tank, fill fresh water tank about half. Run water through all faucets until you smell bleach. Let run for a few minutes. Flush with fresh water. See if that helps

Thanks for all the input ya'll . I put some bleach in the tank and ran the faucets for a while then flushed everything with fresh water . Just used it on city water and seemed to be fine . Just a little bleach smell but much better than before . thanks again .

If the bleach smell is too much for you, add vinegar to your fresh water and run it through.

Glad it worked out! Sanitize it on at least an annual basis and you should be fine.
