Soft floor on 2019 303RLS

We have discovered a soft floor between the island and the stove on our last camping trip.

Took into local service and they did not find any indication of water leakage. It is going to cost about $3500 in labor to just pull the slideout. We have the Protective XtraRide Service Plan who when called, they said that it was not covered.

So we called Grand Design. GD service agent, simply stated that the unit is 4 years old and not under warranty. The only option that they told us was that we would have the local dealer take it apart and submit a CCC to GD.

Any suggestions?

I have a 2021 303. There are a few spots in the floor that don't seem to be supported very well. They do feel a bit soft, meaning they flex, when I step on that area.
How "soft" is that area? Any water leaks under the sink? Any dripping water from the underside? How concerned was the local service provider?
Are you able / willing to drop the coroplast and do some investigation.

Hopefully this is just a section that is not supported well, and attempting to fix it might be a wild goose chase. Fingers crossed.
I'll go out to my 303 and walk that area and see how feels and let you know.

EDIT: Just checked my 303. No soft spots noted in the area between the stove and island. It's all solid down that side of the camper.
Hope you are able locate the issue without the $3500 investigation fee.

Dropping the coroplast iss the best way to investigate. We had a cross member/ support come loose in that area causing a dip in front of the stove. Lippert bolted the member up to the frame , much safer at that point then welding. (unit was a GD for another issue and they sent it to LCI for repair)

Somewhere in the back of my mind I remember reading or heard that the floors in these RVs are floating floors. Which means they are not screwed down to the cross supports in the center. This can cause warpage in the floors and result in high and low spots and can almost feel like a soft spot. Some owners have had good luck using floor wedges placed between the cross supports and the floor and pound them in, that reinforces the area and can resolve floor creeks and soft spots. In the area of the kitchen, stove, fridge you would have to lower the coroplast to check it out. Even thouogh it can be a pain to lower the coroplast to check it out, I would rather do that than pay $3 grand for them to just say it's ok and nothing we can do.

How did they come up with that name anyway,,,,, coroplast?

but I could be disremembering, or off my rocker, so to speak.

Just got back from a camping trip to Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park. The soft spot has gotten bigger, now there is one very soft spot right in front of the stove and it is spreading toward the refrig. No indications of any water leak under the island and no indication of water coming out anywhere outside.

My best guess is maybe the drain line from the sink, not sure where the tank is actually located. Waiting on the local RV shop to get the rig into the shop.

Any updates on the soft spot? Is is an area that you can access from the basement rather than dropping the coroplast? Always looking to learn something new but am sad that our learning is possibly at your misfortune.

Update, we traded our 2019 in on a 2023. Wife was not comfortable having it repaired.

Well congrats [emoji322][emoji898][emoji324] on your new rig! Pictures please. Definitely a great way to fix!

Hmmmm..... What do you think are the odds that the dealership will fix the floor issue before selling it? Sounds like future post potential.....

Let me get everyone’s opinion. I’m thinking about buying a new 2023 solitude S class 2930. The floor at the head of the bed has collapsed where you can see it in the tile. The dealer claims he does not know why but has now fix the problem. Should I avoid buying this trailer because of possible future problems with the floor. Thanks. Lance

Seriously? You're thinking about buying a trailer that already has a major problem? Run, run far, run fast. :)

Actually, before it was fixed, the sales person said he didn’t know what caused the problem. I’m thinking I need to see some kind of documentation from the shop regarding the floor.

Might even talk to the guy doing the repair..... but, not sure I still trust many dealers when it comes to the honest side of issues/fixes these days. Heard of some customers selling fairly new purchased trailers due to recuring (seeming unfixable) issues. In other words... lots of shop time, lost CG deposits, and missed vacation plans.

Wonder if GD could be quized on warranty related repairs documented for that RV? Would they even give one (other than a dealer) that info?

Good thoughts. Thanks
