Getting ready to pick up our 2015 379FL, and I have been doing a lot of internet searching on the type of system components are in the trailer already to make it "solar ready."

I don't see much in the trailer's brochure and the GD website is lacking in that aspect.

If anyone has added solar to their GD 5er, I would love to discuss with you.

Thanks,
Asa

I will be interested in this thread as well. My understanding is that the only "solar prep" on our trailer is the solar port, located on the front next to the front hatch, and the wiring from it to the batteries. You need to purchase the Furrion solar 95W Portable Solar Power Charging System to interface with it. Oh, at the tune of $599.

I think there are less expensive and at least equally effective systems available but they won't interface with the Furrion Solar Port.

I looked at the solar port on my solitude and yes it needs the matching plug to plug into it. We have solar panels at our property that I connect to my batteries. I run the cables onto the battery compartment where i will mount the solar panel control box, then hook up to the batteries. I will disconnect the wires at the back of the Furion solar connector and use the existing wires and fuse link that are already attached to the batteries. Just that much less wiring to run.
