My wife was in the bathroom with the door closed and went to open it by putting pressure on the door outward while sliding it back into the wall. Afterwards we found 3 scratches on the outside of the door. After investigating I found 8 screws were exposed coming from the hallway. Needless to say these sharp points on the screws dug into the door. I have removed the door and used a dremel to grind all the screws down flat. I will also try to find some stain to match the door so I can repair it. You may want to make sure you don't have this issue and if so, fix it before it becomes an issue.

Grand Design,

You should add this to your quality check. Thanks

Call GD customer service and asked them to send you a new door. Send them the pictures and maybe they will start using shorter screws.

Myself I would still talk to GD and after they see the pictures they might say this was GD's fault and take care of you. You have nothing to lose but a phone call! Even ask to speak to someone higher up if you have to. Obviously they are using screws that are to long. Especially with a sliding door there. After reading many postings GD has seemed to want to make things correct.

We had the same problem. GD did sent a new door. The screws would not have touched the door if the bottom guide was installed correctly. You may want to confirm that the door is in the guide so that it does not swing back and forth.

Issue resolved immediately by GD. No questions asked. I was a little slow in requesting but found the time to do so last night and had an answer this morning before 8AM. Wow that's fast response and service. Loving our Solitude and very happy with Grand Design! I will never own another brand! Kudo's to Grand Design and team! Happy Camper here!

What? The door has a bottom guide? Rats! I thought it was normal for the door to swing back and forth a little. I ended up putting felt pads on the inside to keep the door form swinging and hitting the sides. Never got the scratches from the screws. Just a few scuff marks at the bottom where it was hitting.

Yes the bottom plastic guide is supposed to keep the door centred. The screws lock it in place before the moulding is put on. My plastic guide was never locked in place during assembly so it caused problems with rubbing and not lining up with door jamb. It's a big job having to remove and reinstall the mouldings. In my case, GD fixed it at the GD Rally.

New Bathroom Door arrived today via UPS. Email sent on Monday night, Reply on Tuesday morning and new door arrived Friday at noon. Can't beat that type of service. Thanks Grand Design! Another satisfied camper.

We also had the "scratchy screw" problem with our bathroom pocket door. John installed the door that JD sent us. That went better than we expected! However we did not have any kind of "guide" at all! Bought furniture slide strips (super slides) and put them inside the "pocket" Work great. Still wondering about the guides...

Update: Discovered there IS a guide at the bottom. Problem is that it was installed way too low to make contact with the door and is broken in half. I'll just stick with the felt pads. They seem to work fine. Come on GD. You guys can do better than that.

BTW. We still love our Solitude!
