Last night at a dark skies park I wanted to turn on the light on the ceiling of my front basement storage area. I found that the only way to have that light on is to turn on the LED’s on the front cap. Are all solitudes wired this way or is mine incorrect? Seems ridiculous to have to light up 25’ in front of the RV along with the lower curbside of the trailer to see in my storage area at night.

For clarification there’s a switch on the light same as the ones in the main basement storage. The switch just doesn’t get any power unless the exterior front cap switch is toggled on.

My '18 310GK was wired the same way from factory.
I re-wired mine to isolate the basement light from the front cap lights (that I never use) with a Wago connector.

Thanks. I don’t use them either. Well, once leaving before dark they were semi useful for hooking up, but even then the truck bed lights would do the job. Guess I’m glad it’s not screwed up, but I may look into rewiring them at some point as well.

Same here. But not anymore. Cap lights, under belly lights, front storage lights, and a light under the hitch area I put in are now all on separate switched (mostly inside for the cap and underbelly).

You just have to sort through all the wires attached to that one switch to see which wire controls which light. It's be a fun mod.

I may do that. At least isolate the storage light to start with since the wires are exposed just running above the door into wago connectors. Surely I can find some small gauge 12v I can tap into somewhere in that storage area.

Tap off the 12v coming to that one switch. You should be able to send it back the switch and another one for just the storage bay lights.

I'm pretty nerdy.... I put in a old type auto door switch (plunger type) that controlled the dome light in older cars and now when I open my front storage bay a light comes on (actually a few bright lights).

I decided against leaving any outside lights on - absolute bug attractors. I've left them on maybe two or three times when returning after dark or trying to get a picture. Rig was covered in bugs.
