I guess they don’t know how to use air bags for trailer recovery in California. I worked accident recovery for a major trucking firm for several years, and you would be amazed at the lack of damage to a trailer if it was properly righted, using the bags. We often didn’t even need to unload some units before bringing them back on the wheels.
You ease the bag between the road and the trailer, then gently raise the trailer. The second tow rig has a couple of straps around the trailer and maintains tension so that you don’t have the “SLAM” when the trailer comes upright and back onto it’s wheels.
There was no need for the dramatic “SLAM” that nearly popped the slide out of the body in this case...
I’d say rookie tow truck team that may have caused a great deal of unnecessary damage to the trailer.
