Specifications of the Ideal Towing Vehicle for an Imagine 22MLE

I’m towing ours with a bullet-proofed 2004 Ford F-350. Only a little over half its towing capacity. Too many people purchase TTs that are at the maximum threshold weight their rigs can tow I was told by the Service Tech at our RV Dealership, this is why they experience Transmission issues and failures a little while later. Keep in mind, when it comes to the diesel engines repairs are expensive, and everything outside the engine costs like a regular Gas truck, not that it is not expensive as well—especially these days! ?

You appear to be a lucky one. I had to replace my 2004 6.0 bullet proof one in 2021 after the traney and HPOP started acting up again. I too bullet proofed after the EGR melt down. Did the full delete along with head studs and a few other tweeks. Then the HPOP failed. After those repairs the wiring harness across the top of the block shorted out in Amarillo. Come to find out the wire harness is no longer made, so if your electrical goes bad, good luck. I was lucky the repair was just to tape it up to isolate the shorting wire. There was no way other than pulling the engine to sort through the bundle for the individual bad wire.

I do agree folks only get just enough truck usually and should really consider more. An example the F250 and F350 are so close in price why get the 250 with it much lower payload numbers - especially with the 6.7.

Safe travels.

Don’t get me wrong, in 2017 I experienced catastrophic engine failure along Interstate 80, near Lovelock, NV. I had my oil standpipes replaced, complete Blue Seal, Fan Clutch, FICM, and more. One of the items was the HPOP, and purchased a Starter from Summit Racing. $7,600.00 later after all was paid I got my rig bullet-proofed in Idaho for $3,500.00. Bought my rig on August 2015, and wound-up in that the timeframe from 2015 to 2017’s incident replaced Three Fuel Injectors. I run Hot Shots Secret Stiction Eliminator and the Fuel System Additive, and it has worked out really well. I would love to purchase another Truck, but I have only put 56,000 plus miles, since 2015, and not really wanting the ridiculous payments for one of these new trucks. I also installed an S&B Cool Air Induction within the last year.

I opted not to do the EGR Delete and had my EGR Valve replaced recently. When my rig was bullet-proofed they also removed the EGR Oil Cooler, gutted it, and replaced with Six tubes that look like the inside of a Rifle barrel.

Sorry! I just saw that you replied. I got a Chip from Chip Your Car dot com and added an S&B Cool Air Induction. I could go faster, but I run between 65-70 MPH on the Hwy., even though our speed limit is 80 MPH, but I go mostly run 65 MPH. I put a bumper magnet that reads ‘I’m Not Part of Your Hurry’, which lets people know I am not going to speed-up. We will see how it goes. We may trade in for a Class B+ or C Motorhome. My wife is liking the Lineage M-series by GD. I have medical issues and the set-up/Break-down is hard on my Back and Sciatic nerve. We are thinking about it, there are others out there to consider.

Always buy more truck than you think you want.

We bought an F-350 SRW 4WD and it is a fine commuting truck, as well as a hoss when towing.

The newer trucks’ suspensions will give you a comfortable ride, loaded or not.

As others have said, better to have more truck. Just recently purchased a 2024 2500 Silverado desiel crew cab with long bed.

I was told to look at the max trailer package for it. Was a $1000.oo extra, it came with 1 ton springs, frame, and rear end which makes it the same as a 3500 truck but titled as a 3/4 ton truck. No difference now between 2500 and 3500 as far as power train, engine, transmission, brakes.
