Spots On My Camper

Over the summer we keep our camper on our land in northern Minnesota. Last year I got a few of these spots (pictured below) and last year I got peppered with them. I don't know if it's fly crap, or sap from a tree. The spots are only on the rear and the street side, the two sides that get the most sun during the day.
Darn things are super resilient! I have yet to find any kind of detergent that will even touch the things. So far the best thing I've found to remove the spots is super hot water and my thumb nail. At that rate I'll be removing spots for the better part of a day.
Has anyone come across these things? If so, how do you remove them, , , easily?

It's actually a kind of fungus I'd bet. Use an automobile detailer's clay bar as directed. See if that is aggressive enough. Keeping your rig waxed helps immensely. If not aggressive enough, follow up and we can provide some more aggressive options.

Interesting. I did some reading on the interlink, the one thing I read about how to prevent or get rid of Artillery Fungus was to stay away from wood mulch. Oddly enough, a couple years ago we cut some trees that were dying off and were in close proximity to the camper. We rented a chipper and chipped what we could. That pile of chips is approx. 20 feet away from the camper.

I found a long write up on Artillery Fungus and various ways of removing it. Read a ton of ways to remove it and what seems to be one of the easier ways to remove it is kind of what I found out on my own by mistake. Rehydrate the spot(s) with something like warm water and a sponge, then lightly scrape the bump off with plastic scraper, remove any left over stain with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Looks like I have some work ahead me.

It looks like what I get on my garage door. What works for us is the Blue Dawn dish soap. I rinse the doors, then pour some Dawn in a bucket of water and I use a soft automotive brush and lightly brush, then rinse. No hard effort.

We also live in MN and my father in law gets those on his pontoon boat. He said it is left by flies. I’ll be out at the lake on Sunday and get the name of the cleaner he uses to get it off the vinyl seats.

I was attacked by artillery fungus a few years ago and it got the vinyl siding on one side of my garage and a vinyl shed. The only thing I found that removed it was light scrubbing with a Mister Clean Magic Eraser pad.
