Wanting to get into HAM while full timing in our 310GK. Trying to come up with a viable set up, something that I can expand on, but which is still comprehensive at start up.

Thinking about this to start:

Yaesu FR-991a as a shack in a box,
A set of Shark HAM sticks, and
A Chameleon antenna base for the sticks

I have a 4500W generator and a solar set up with 3 LiFePO 280Ah batteries in Series, in addition (obviously) to 50A shore power

Is this a viable HAM system as described?

Do I need anything else?

Any other system set up recommended?

Thanks in advance for comments and recommendations.

Both, eventually. That’s why I’m looking at the 991a. And I do t necessarily want a collection of boxes. (I know, I know, prolly gonna happen anyway. lol).

I have the 991A at my home QTH. It’s a great radio. The ATAS-120 would give you 40m-70cm. Would keep from having numerous antennas.

"...3 LiFePO 280Ah batteries in Series," If those are 12V nominal batteries, you are putting 36V into your trailer unless you have a 36-12 converter. If they are 6V nominal then you are putting 18 volts into you trailer. I suspect you mean the batteries are in parallel.
