Well had to go get my first inspection for the Solitude 3350rl, has anyone paid $139.50 total for your tags and yearly inspection. Needless to say I was freaked out at that price. This was in Medina County Texas. What did you pay?

No inspection in Illinois, tags go by weight bands, max $102, min $78 for under 8000 lbs

Ha....in NH, (our old home state) a new Solitude would be $2-3000 annually. Decreasing yearly. That's without the annual $75.00 inspection. In Delaware, ours was about what yours was but there was also a one time transfer tax hit of about $1000...new value over traded value of old Bighorn. Delaware does not do inspections on new vehicles, but their trailer inspection includes weighing and active braking. Kind of nice to know. Inspection is included in the reg fee.

I live in New York State. My annual Registration cost is $197.50 but the State allows you to prorate that so in my case, I only Register my 5th Wheel for the months I'll be using it (usually March or April through December). This year I paid $167.00 The Annual inspection is $6 for my rig but some towable RV's will pay more than that. It varies depending on if your rig is over 18,000 pounds or under.

In North Carolina there's no yearly inspection on the camper, but you pay the tags and a property tax together. Our 2015 323BHS runs us around $585/yr. I think it goes down like $7/yr.

In PA there's registration and yearly inspection. Registration varies by weight, and for 13,001# and above 5ers is $90/yr or $425/permanent. So, with yearly registration and inspection, same price range.

Seems I need to use a mail forwarding address or buy an plot of land outside Ca with domicile rights.:pound:

California
2021 31MB - $584/yr
2020 3500HD - $1104/yr, inspections are random from 1st year on Diesel's from what I have heard (Got call from dealer 3 months later to let me know they didn't charge me enough in September, laughed at lady and said you have to got to be kidding me since I knew what it was from the invoice sheet $9xx, told her to send me the information so I can compare to my original invoice/registration card and sure enough I owed another $164).

All in all we do live 3hr-4hr away from closest metro area so overall cost of living is still reasonable with lower property values/taxes.

Registration fees are supposed to go down unless they pass a fee increase. Realize my 6yr old 2014 half ton was still $460 last year.

Montana has no inspection.
No sales tax.
One time fee (for our 310GK it was $165) for permanant trailer tabs and license plate.

Truck Campers have no tabs. One time title fee.
Boats: One time fee for permanent tabs on new trailers.
One time fee for permanent boat sticker.
Every 3 years you must buy an AIS sticker for $20.

Our trucks:
2000 F350 costs nothing for tabs. You can pay $87 for a permanent tab if the vehicle is older than 10 years.
2021 F350 costs $400 the first year, and goes down each year until its 10 years old, then one time perm tabs fee.

Kentucky has personal property tax, so the Solitude will run probably over $600 next year when the tags are due. States will get your money one way or another.

I know the thread is per state but I'll throw in the province of Ontario just to compare.
For the RV its a 1 time fee for the plates. $66 if I remember correctly. No tags, property tax or other fees. Same for Quebec except there's an annual fee of $166 for the plates, if I remember correctly.

We are heavily taxed in MN, but our yearly plate tabs are fairly low and they don’t have an inspection. I did have to pay for a house inspection when we built it. It was $500 and the guy never came in. I called them and they said they knew the builder so it wasn’t necessary. But, the fee was. What do they inspect your RV for? Smoke and CO2 detectors and brakes I imagine. Anything else?

Here’s Rhode Island. . . .

Truck
$572 annual property tax (which by the way went up this past year because the NADA value actually INCREASED – I’ve never had a vehicle do that before!)
$142 annual registration
Inspection = TBD; I’ll be due for my first inspection later this summer. Passenger cars are $55 - I expect my truck (with commercial plates) to be much higher.

Trailer
$590 tax (which is based on NADA value, NOT on what I paid for it)
$70 registration
Inspection = TBD (first inspection will be after 2 years for a new vehicle)

We’re looking forward to domiciling in SD by this time next year!

In New York, they don't care about CO2 detectors or smoke detectors. Just the brakes, lights, tires and they make sure the frame isn't rusted through. Basically just make sure it's road worthy. Just another way for the State to squeeze a few more dollars from you.

Consider that a meager fee.

Colorado {democrat run} Our 2017 Solitude was $850.00. When we bought it in 2017 it was over $1200.00

Travel trailer 6000 lbs and less=$45.00
6001-10000 lbs=$54.00
10000-18000 lbs=$110.00
18001-25999=$205.00 and up from there in Texas plus $10.00 road fee.

Tennessee - No inspection. $14 annually. I think a permanent is around $90.

That’s crazy. We just had ours inspected in Texas, they checked the brake lights and blinkers and were done. Didn’t even bother to charge us for the inspection.

The sticker was around $75.
