Storing TT on Sloped Driveway

Hey all,

First of all, Merry Christmas!

Second, my wife and I are considering buying a house that we love pretty much everything about except the sloped driveway. Main reason being because we want to park our TT at our house, and not have to pay to store it elsewhere.

Am I crazy to think I can park/store my 29’ XLS 23LDE on this driveway? Anyone else dealing with similar circumstances and have any advice?

PS - Ignore the tape measure… That was my approximate measurement of the width of the trailer.

Merry Christmas! Can't really get the feel of the slope based on the pic, however, there shouldn't be a concern for damaging the RV by parking it on a slope, unless it rolls down the hill or something. Your fridge is 12V so no issue there. Depending on how steep the slope is, you may find it uncomfortable to load/unload unless you can do some leveling to shore it up as best you can. Otherwise, although it's always ideal to park on the level, I can't think of any concerns related to it.

I don’t see a problem, the only thing is you might want to put some large blocks under your tongue jack so it doesn’t have to extend so far and make it wobbly when it is leveled.

I didn’t realize that the fridge being a 12v alleviated the issue of parking on a slope without leveling. That’s good to know. I’d rather not have to try to jack the nose of the trailer way the heck up to try to get it level. Just seems less stable.

Looks like the driveway is long enough to park it with the tongue towards the house.

I would buy th eplace if that is what you like.
Modifiactions to the parking area can always be done at a later time to maybe level the uppuer portion, that would of course create a steeper slope towards the street, but it could work. I also like the idea of parking face in so that the door side is on the house side. Also looks like plenty of room etc to get your utilities for trailer in. We have a full hook up at home so it is nice for loading, unloading, guest house etc. Good Luck, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Well there ya go! You lower the tongue instead of putting it on blocks. Access to the RV will be much easier with the door on the driveway side..

Yeah, I think that’s the way to go. Allows me to park it further down the driveway toward the street where it’s slightly more level too. The driveway is about 90’ total length with about 22’-28’ of width, getting wider toward the bottom, so I should have room to maneuver it around.

Just closing the loop here. Wound up not moving forward with this house due to some issues we found while diving deeper into the property. But I want to thank you all for your feedback! Helps me better understand potential storage options for my TT for the future.

no worries, Great you didnt' get into some unwanted issues. You can always live int eh trailer for a bit until you find the place you want. Good Luck and Happy New Year!!

We have a level driveway in our current home and it’s sooo nice. If I was in your situation I’d want either a level driveway or space next to the garage for storing your trailer. The house in your original post had neither from what I could see.

Put a block under the tongue jack to get it level as possible and put X wheel chocks to keep it from rolling. Thats what I do.

Although I don’t “store” my TT in heavily sloped driveway, I still have this dilemma while rig is in driveway for loading and wash & wax. I shim up one side 3” (to relieve pressure on two slide-outs) and yes the tongue jack is scary high (I've permanently adjusted it 1 notch and shim it greatly). Thankfully I live in a neighborhood on a corner and enjoy paved double width semi-circle driveway connecting both streets. P.S. I also have 12-volt solar-panel refrigerator and gotta believe keeping is level as possible is prudent. I chock all 4-tires. Why don't these RV's have a manual parking brake ?

Glad you found potential issue(s) out before purchase. The new concrete work and old cracks would make me concerned about foundation problems. We had a landslide issue several years ago with unstable ground and our best option was to have our house moved to a different property a few miles away. BIG JOB. I look at the earth with a different set of eyes then before the slide issue, it wants to be flat....gravity.

We have a sloped driveway and park our 2021 17MKE there. We've actually started leveling it when we had the 30 amp plug installed. We put both the front axles on the Beech Lane Curves Levelers. Chock the back wheels and also put cement pavers in front of them. The front hitch is high up. It sits on 2 cement cinder blocks plus 3 pavers. The electric hitch jack sits on a cinder block or an Anderson Hitch EZ Jack Block with a 4" cinder block. We have not had any problems. We normally take it out camping at least once a month, so the refrigerator stays on and stocked. We put her to bed and winterize her the 2nd week of Dec thru Fed normally. We taking her to Florida this Feb for a Ham Radio Hamcation (Rally).

I've tried to attach a picture, but I can't get it upright. Even saving it upside down does not do it. Hope you can see what I'm talking about. This picture was before we started leveling her out completely, but you get the jist if you view it upside down.
