Struvite Experience

Has anyone heard of or had experience in cleaning out struvite in the black tank? I recently read an article in a RV Newsletter about the crystallization in a black tank.

First time I ever heard of struvite. Man, that power washing video was disgusting to watch -- but really informative. Still, I had to fast forward thru some of it.

Anyway, I'd be really interested in getting my tanks power washed. Anyone heard of someone who offers this service in the Midwest?

With good holding tank care, you'll never have build up of struvite because you won't provide an environment for the crystals to grow. GEO Method is ideal keeping the sides and walls slick. Lots of water with toilet use. Don't let tanks sit partially or totally full for extended periods. Neve let your tank dry out - always have enough in it to have an inch or so of water on the bottom - easy math after measuring length and width but 5 gallons is generally enough.

Struvite buildup is more common when campers sit on seasonal/stationary sites. Individuals' health also plays part, obviously.
