Has anyone had their gateway not working while on a trip yet? I have a trip coming up in about a month and I want to be prepared in case TMO has shut the gateway down.

Supposedly tmobile home internet can no longer be used as a mobile hotspot. Well, without spending a bunch more money

On my last trip there was no TMO service at all. No phone or internet. Being my Reflection came with Travlfi I activated it and worked great for what we needed. If TMO-HI does not work on the next trip I will use Travlfi. Once we get back home I will cancel the home internet service completely and switch to another TMO phone plan. Right now I am paying $30 a month for the TMO home internet. With Travlfi I can get a month at a time with what GB plan I want and cancel it when I don't need it.

I was hoping to hear back from members here that has TMO and had the gateway stop working instead of a youtuber hawking products more than discussing the TMO home internet. I don't have much faith in influencers and youtubers hawking products for people to buy.

We surrendered ours because I need it at home and the tower near us not providing 5G and the part was on back order. But the Tech told me they will not enforce until the new plan comes out. So, it it is out, it will shut you off.

After reading a lot on TMO reddit sites I will go ahead and turn in the TMO gateway. I only use it 5 to 6 months of the year and I have Travlfi in my Reflection. My wife and I are due phone upgrades, so we will do that at the same time. From what I have read the people that have the TMO Magneta Max plans will be forced to switch to the Go5G plans in November.

I had one and used it on the road in April with no issues, but then turned it in.
So long as you have cell service, then the best plan I've found is Verizon's discount service https://www.visible.com/
Join a group and you can get your bill to flat-rate $25/month or the boosted + plan for $35. All plans come with unlimited data.
The only rub is you're limited to a single hotspot connection at a time, but that's no big deal if you also get a wireless router. DW and I each have our own - there are no family plans, each phone has it's own account, so for $65/month (35 mine, 25 hers) we get unlimited data and we can each hotspot our respective phones for work. That's all we're using these days and I haven't even bothered to turn on my Winegard boosting unit for over a year now.

Curious about you guys running Visible+. I tried Visible again going with Visible+ to leverage 5G connectivity. Really an experiment as we have VZW personally and I have an ATT business plan. Anyway short of it is, my experience was that in dense area with limited towers that were overtaxed, Visible+ was bumped down to 4G. Thus, making it useless for anything you really want a hotspot for. Visible's descriptions give you the impression that this is not how Visible+ works, but ultimately working with the support folks it is the case. They were good enough to give me a full refund (again). So, aces in customer service. I am wondering if you guys have seen the degrade more broadly with Visible+. Their customer service folks tried to make it seem like we're a rare instance (one tower with an excessively high demand because other providers using it too), but I think that it has to be incredibly common in and around any metro for a secondary provider. This is exactly what I found when I had Visible just after it launched, and I think Visible+ is just a gimmick to get more money by giving some very limited 5G access.

I had been testing Simple Mobile pay as you go and it was actually phenomenal at a great price point. Verizon clearly took notice because they bought them and the service level declined immediately thereafter.

I have tried several, including AT&T, TravelFi, and now Tmobile Home internet. For me Starlink is a great solution but i would never use it enough though the year to justify a monthly subscription.

As far as TravelFi, it worked great, a couple locations were not so great, but I called them and they changed carriers on the system and it got better. My only complaint is the price for unlimited which is necessary if you are going to stream TV. I now have that as my backup.

I now use the TMobile Home internet (Which I registered at my home address). After about 8 months I love it, so far I have gotten signal everywhere, some better signal than others. I recently added the WaveForm booster antennae and it has made a significant improvement when you can get a clear shot of the sky. T-Mobile has a huge network, it primarily is focused along interstates when you get into rural areas as well as towers the point straight up for airplanes, so the network seems pretty decent for my Travels.

For the price, you cannot beat it, it is flat $50 a month, unthrottled and unlimited. I can stream TV, play music and work remotely and not have any lag when I have at least 3 bars.

keep in mind that the boost residential plan is tethered to your address/specific towers and people have reported that it has stopped working for them way from their home address

Still using my tmo with no issues, fulltiming for $50 a month. I carry starlink with us, but haven't had to use it yet. It's nice that starlink can be turned on and off. Today tmo is running 200 down and 100 upload. We travel all over and so far our tmo home 5G works awesome. 3 years doing it, so far.
