I got a GMG Trek portable pellet smoker last year to try out smoking and I'm addicted. We bring it along with us camping. It's great. That a real nice gift they made you. Who do work for again? LOL

We went to the store and got some steaks right away !
It's a smoker and grill if you don't have a pellet grill your missing the boat . All kinds of them out there at all prices.

Traeger Ranger pellet grill here. Works great on steaks, chicken, fish, ribs, pizza, etc. On cold nights, I can sit in the dinette and can see the probe temp from the window. We haven't upgraded to the latest tech with bluetooth/cell phone probes yet.

Just bought the same one and love it. I use it when boondocking off our batteries. I carry this now and our Blackstone griddle for all cooking.

A few things that sold me on the Pit Boss as compared to the Traeger (which I have and love my home Traeger).....the Pit Boss was considerably lighter to haul back and forth from my Reflectin basement storage compartment to my outdoor kitchen when camping, the Pit Boss was significantly cheaper (pd like $200 and free shipping from Walmart online), and the Pit Boss can be run with/without the igniter which keeps the amperage draw around 1A when boondocking and running the unit on batteries.

Another advantage that I just recently started using with the GMG Trek is server mode. It's like bluetooth and wifi but over cell coverage, so you aren't limited to around the house or trailer. You can remotly start it, stop it, see the grill temp and food temp, and adjust the temp as you are out in about. I'm sure other companies have this future also.

We had a GMG Davy Crocket and used it a lot over two years, but the main control board went out and it was about expensive to replace the control board as it was to buy a new Smoker/Grill. Then we came upon the Bit Boss Smoker/Grill table top. Was about the same cost as just the replacement control board for the GMG.
We found an advantage of the Bit Boss is that its lighter weight, simpler operation and a smaller foot print in the cargo hold than the GMG Davy Crocket. The Bitt Boss hold less pellets than the GMG and it doesn't have the WYFI capabilities as the GMG, but we found we actually don't miss the WYFI capabilities.

No matter which one we have used, we love cooking food on a smoker/grill.

We're still old school and I smoke on my little 18" weber charcoal grill. Can it hold a 13 lb whole turkey??

Yup! We used to carry our Smokey Joe with us camping and to the Drive-Inn's back in the day when they allowed them! Love that charcoal flavour....!

Also have a ZGrill pellet grill for the stick built. Works great as a "slow" smoker and cooker. But for fast meals, our blackstone is the bomb! Nothing like a good grilled burger, steak, eggs, hashbrowns, etc on a seasoned grill top!
