I've built my own batteries but always watching what is happening in the market. I have been watching a number of tear-down and test videos related to the newer TechCella brand batteries. Right now I see that a 100AH battery with Bluetooth, low temp cutoff, and other features you need the battery to have, is available for $139 on Amazon. That is amazing to me. I could not build that battery for that price.

If the tests were showing that these batteries are not performing to spec, it would not surprise me. But these are. I can hardly wrap my head around it. Even as much as I have liked what I see with Li Time and Epoch, this is a whole other level. Just wow.

Thanks for posting this, their 320 Ah is just $399. The way prices have come down is truly amazing.

But, in the back of my mind, there has got to be a problem. I guess that is how I think. Every business needs to make a profit, so how can they do this? IDK, but I think it's too cheap for me to buy.

Plus, what joy is there to install a ready made battery without spending months designing/making yours, all so you can save a $100?

I agree with the idea of building your own for the experience of it. I really enjoyed the process of learning all that goes into it. Regarding the profit, I suspect the manufacturers of these batteries in China are able to get the supplies cheaper than you and I can. So, who knows what their actual costs are. There are plenty of cheap ones out there that don't do well in the tear down and tests online and that doesn't surprise me. But it really boggles my mind as to how many competitors there are now, how much the prices have come down, and then how some of them actually do perform pretty well in tear downs and testing; those are still the minority mind you, but it's coming along. Back to your point though, I'll still be building my own 36V trolling motor pack when I need to replace those LA batteries in the next couple of years. I like knowing and choosing which cells, BMS, cables, etc., are going into them.

I don't know about the rest of you, I'm not waiting around to see what is new and the learning curve that comes with that. As far as I am concerned, I think I have enough capacity to last me my lifetime.

There is always something new coming out, but I am totally impressed with what is out there now. If you asked me 20 years ago if this was going to be available, I would say no. I guess that is what happens when the government pushes EV vehicles down the throat of the public.

But maybe if they had to rely on the demand of the market, and the necessary drive to improve, who knows where they'd be now? :) With the gub'ment forcing adoption, it would be easy to become complacent.

I'm not saying what happened is a negative thing. The government pushed EV's [good or bad] and the result of pushing technology can result in good stuff for other markets.

Look at the emissions systems. I was around and tried to fix that garbage in the 70's and 80's. It was insane and for all those people that drove cars back then, you can remember how bad they were. Now, it's impressive how much power there is with such a tiny engine. If you had a car that had 20mpg back then, it was an economy car. Now, it would be a gas hog. Every car starts, without stalling, the first time, no matter how hot/cold it is.

I'm all for technology, I just wish I did not have to go through the learning curve.
