A member reported a stripped plastic gear in their TV televator and found only one exact replacement costing over $500. After also finding gouging on the slides, they discarded the motorized portion and reused the upper mechanism to keep the TV permanently raised. They may add storage behind the TV, since they rarely lowered it anyway.

Replacement options and parts availability were mixed. One member suggested a Monoprice motorized lift advertised through Walmart for $188.04, though...

Drat. The plastic gear that is driven by the worm gear on the motor stripped. Finding an exact replacement televator isn't panning out; the only one I found was over $500. So until we get home (Sept? Oct?) I'll just make a permanent mount and leave the TV up. Actually, I've not sure why it wasn't built with it permanently up and with no window above that cabinet. I think the cabinet could be used better way..... whatever - the journey continues.....

When I am looking for lower prices on electronics and accessories, I look to monoprice.com. Especially for TV mounts.

Monoprice has a TV Lift Stand for $318.00, but you can get it for $188.04 through Walmart.com right now. And it comes with the remote and voice control (Alexa).

The televators in GD RVs have traditionally been made by MORryde (the same people who make the suspension systems). I contacted them for some replacement parts for the televator in out Solitude 310 and they were very easy to deal with.

I threw the motorized part of the system out and just used the top half of the mechanism since the TV was already mounted to it. Gears were stripped and slides had signs of gouging. Since we almost always raise that TV I just made a mount so it stays up all the time. I'm likely done with yet another system that is destined to fail at some time.

I'll probably make some sort of storage space behind the TV (not that we need more but it might be a good place to stash some paper products or a few pillows).

I never really understood why GD thinks one needs another window; especially one behind a TV. Other brands got a lot more creative with a TV cabinet, fireplace and storage area. I guess it's the trade-offs we all make selecting our floorpans.

Rob I checked with MoRryde & didnt have a clue about Teavator or parts? maybe they discontinued the trouble lift. Grand Design sent a parts list but parts not avail! (I like the concept but cheap NOT dependable in building) Researched other brand all are single post mounts, wish there wasnt a window behind the TV or I'd secure on top.

I would never buy a camper with a televator in it. just does not seem to me as something that will last very long and hard to get parts for. Plastic gears, what China engineer convinced Lippert that this was a good idea.
