I called GD and told them I could not lower thermostat so they sent 2 new ones. Same problem and tech told me the thermostats are not designed to go lower. Nightmare. Why customer service did not tell me that??? GD dealer totally useless!

Did you tell them you could not lower the temp on thermostat or did you tell them you could not lower the temp lower than 60?

Your post isn’t clear and it is an important point
Btw did you have a question?

I told CS that I could not lower the thermostat lower than 60. When I had my Arctic Fox that I sadly miss, the thermostat could be lowered to 35. When the nights here go down to 20, I like to keep the heat at a minimum of 35. this always prevented any freezing when the pipes were blown out. With GD, I keep my fingers crossed! I want to know if this is a design flaw or another issue with Furion.

It’s pretty rare to see a comfort thermostat go much below 60. Thermostats, except in the case of the Micro-Aire, are manufactured by the same company as the HVAC system.

Another issue? What other problems are you having?

Keep in mind most rvs are made for the weekend warriors. They are not built for full time living and also not really built for low temps
Just keep the furrion at its minimum and that will be warmer than your previous trailer so you won’t need to cross your fingers

Any chance you can install another thermostat?

It doesn't surprise me that the Furrion thermostat doesn't account for setting a really low temp. But I'm not much of a Furrion fan.

Others here have installed a MicroAir thermostat I think. Maybe some of them will chime in - or someone with some actual experience.

Thanks. Apparently MicroAire is the only one that can be used with the Furion junk A/C'sbut they cost a fortune given the unit cost and labor to install correctly. My guess is a total cost would approach $400 or more! For a brand new 5th wheel!

It's not the 5th wheels fault. Or the Furrion system.... it is working as designed.

Are you using it all week long, or just don't feel like blowing the lines out? 10 minutes of work (or let the heat run at 60) and it's not an issue.

I have a 2021 295RL . . . my thermostat goes below 60. My "winterization in north Texas entails putting a small electric heater in the belly to keep the tanks and pipes above freezing. My thermostat is set at 45 so the propane heater will kick in if the temperatures get extremely low. I have Coleman HVAC units, don't remember the brand of the stock thermostats off the top of my head.

We purchased the Microair Easy Touch. Currently have my camper set to 40°. Yes it's expensive, and yes it's an awesome thermostat. And it's also incredibly easy to install, would probably take you 10 minutes, following the instructions. And if you had a problem they have fabulous customer support although it is via email.
Another benefit of the MicroAir is that you can program it so that you can schedule the heat to drop lower at night, and warm up the trailer before you get up in the morning. And it's Wi-Fi capable so if you have a way to connect it you can control your thermostat from anywhere via the app on your phone.
Another benefit of having the MicroAir is I was able to buy a heat strip kit and controller to install into my main Furrion AC unit, and now I have a close equivalent to a heat pump, So when temperatures are above freezing I can use that to heat the trailer and save the propane. Of course, this would not be optimal if you were in a full-time situation where you have to pay for your electric. But since we are not in that situation, it works out great for us.

You must be new to RVing. You will soon find out that this is a very small issue in the RV world. Buckle up, its gonna be a rough ride

BTW, welcome to RVing. In spite of all the issues We all love this liffestyle.

It's funny how people want the best services at the lowest prices.

You are not going to get a person that knows everything on the phone. Usually when you are that smart, they put you somewhere else.

Don't worry, the day is coming [maybe it's already here] where you will just be talking to an AI voice. That way, one more person will be out of the job. Let's just hope AI is better when that time happens, because, I'm not impressed now.

Do you mind sharing where you got the heat strip and controller? I have the MicroAir and a heat strip would be great.
