I have a 2016 solitude 375RE. During my last roof clean I noticed that there was some "alligator skin" type cracking in some areas around the a/c units. The rest of the roof looks fine. I am concerned as this unit is approaching 8 years of use. Unit has been kept inside heated storage in the off season. Is this normal?

We are going on 10 years and the roofs not pretty any more but have not noticed that kind of cracking going on.

How dry is the inside storage, maybe lack of some sort of humidity has dried it out??

It's not super dry. Many of my buddies campers are stored in there also. It's odd, it's only by the ac units where the condensation runs off.The rest of the roof looks normal. Still seems plyable it is just cracked.

@waterweezel Some roofs in that timeframe were made with defective materials. Call GD and see if yours is in that window. There is a chance they will pay for a new roof.
You have a much better memory than me, had forgotten all about that!

That would be awesome if GD did cover the roof, or even just the material to re roof an 8yr old trailer
@waterweezel let us know what happens.

I contacted Grand Design they said to take more pictures. I did ask if I could coat the affected area with a roll on coating to stop any possible water damage. They said not an issue and to take it to the dealer as soon as I could as the roof is still under warranty. Thanks for the replies.

Awesome !

I'm glad you were able to get it covered by insurance. For those who can't (like me) - I recommend Ziollo roof covering. Adding that product solved our roof problem AND made a significant difference in keeping our rig cool.
