Good afternoon, we are thinking of upgrading from our Imagine 2500RL to a Reflection 150 280RS and I was hoping to get some feedback on actual pin weights and if anyone is towing with a Ford F-250 6.2l gas engine specifically. Looking up specs on our truck, it shows I've got 4.30, 15k towing capacity, 3162 cargo capacity, Super crew cab, 6 3/4 bed, 4x4. My biggest concerns are cargo capacity and actually getting a rig that may get us close to max'd out on our weight limits. If I just used the standard 15% for pin weight, I believe we would be just fine. However, I know that is not going to be the case after reading a bunch of threads here. And of course, any real world towing experience with a 5th wheel and a Ford F-250 6.2l gas engine would be appreciated. Did just a real quick search in the forums for this specific info (280RS and F-250 6.2l) but couldn't find much, so sorry of this is redundant. Thanks much!

We towed our '19 Reflection 150 295RL with our '13 F150 SCREW 4X4 6.2 w/6spd auto/3.55 gears for 3 years and was very satisfied with its performance towing from the Smokeys, Rockies, and Black Hills and everywhere in between.

We did however make some mods to our truck like adding a rear anti swaybar, Bilstein shocks, B&W 13qt trans pan with 10 row tran cooler, LT 10ply tires and dual path airbags.

In short, good solid gas motor for towing IMO.

Note: we currently tow the same 295RL with our '23 F250 7.3 gasser. Obviously bigger motor, but heavier truck than our previous one. Both tow about the same IMO. However, not thrilled with the 10spd auto of the new F250 over my old 6spd....

15% pin weight is pretty low, you're better off figuring 20% of GVWR of the trailer, that way you're not so likely to be unpleasantly surprised when you hitch up. :)

Agreed! 2200 lbs is what I figured to be safe! Which can start getting me close to cargo capacity after I add everything else up. Thanks for your inputs!

We tow a 2022 280RS with our GMC 2500, 6.0L gas engine.
I have about 13k miles on the trailer and are perfectly happy with payload and the towing abilities of the gas engine.

I used 16% for my pin weight as I took the advertised unladen pin weight. 16% of the GVWR is well within your payload capacity. I have not been on a CAT scale with this trailer. However, this percentage worked with our 230RL. Our Pullright 16k hitch weighs 110lbs. You should be able to tow the 280RS just fine. We are never the first or last trailer up a hill and our average fuel economy over40k miles has been 8mpg.

We tow our Reflection 150 260RD (9,995 GVW) with a Chevy 2500 HD. Not the same as your case, but it tows fine. We're close on the numbers but it feels safe.

Looks like I'm a few years late. if you did get it. Now that you have loaded it up if your close to mine you probably about 2200 lbs of payload on the truck. I always like to hear from like owners

Thanks to all! We ended up upgrading both RV and tow vehicle! We ended up going with a Jayco Eagle 5th wheel as i could not get any GD dealer to go down on MSRP. We love the Jayco! That said, I was at zero extra weight for my cargo capacity on my F-250, so we have upgraded to a 2024 F-350 with 4,130 cargo capacity! Loving camping and loving life!

That is fantastic, great choice on the bigger truck. I am surprised that no one would discount the MSRP, very common to see a 30% discount around my parts. I had a Jayco class "C", and enjoyed it.
