Is anyone using a tundra to tow with. We have an imagine xls 22 mle and towing with our 2018 tundra off road 2 wheel drive
43 k on the truck
Thinking of getting the transmission fluid changed early
Any thoughts
Thanks

Don’t have a tundra but it is always a great idea to do preventative maintenance

You say early but I noticed this on an online post.
Toyota recommends changing the transmission fluid every 30,000 miles or 3 years, whichever comes first. However, if you frequently tow heavy loads or drive in harsh conditions, it’s advisable to change the fluid more often.
Not saying it is accurate at all but according to it ,if correct, it is time

Thanks to all
Getting the truck PMed this week
Panhandle trip next month for two weeks then
Florida to New York in June

Tundra is the best tow veh
I towed 14000lbs with 2007 tundra 5.7 for 200000miles with never a problem just change oil. You dont need a diesel

I have been towing 2015 GD Reflection 5th wheel with my 2014 Tundra 5.7V8 for nearly 10 years. We have criss crossed the US, climbed thru the Rockies, Canada, etc. I would recommend getting it changed especially if towing in mountains and or desert. Just a good idea to keep your Tundra serviced.

That’s like 5000lbs over the max tow limit of any Tundra. Not only unsafe but hard to believe.

Put the RV loaded attached, on a CAT scale and see what the GVWR is vs that the truck can legally handle.

We purchased a 2024 Tundra Limited last March/April and have put about 33K on it. It pulls like a dream but, of course, it is only a GD Imagin AIM 18BH and I have a Blue Ox to combat any wt distribution. I just had my transmission fluid changed and was told by my Toyota service agent that because the majority of miles are tow miles I need to make sure the fluid is changed often. I love the combination and how it handles.

Have you ever weighed the rig
I did mine last trip seems like the rear truck axle is a little over
Not sure what the numbers mean but I will do some research
But it pulls nice
Trans fluid flushed notice and little better shifting
10 mpg

I did and it runs great
That’s pretty awesome pulling a fifth wheel with that

If you find you are over, take a look at your weight distribution hitch setup. You may not be transferring enough weight to the front axle. Going over the trucks payload rating may not be a huge deal but running over its rear axle ratings is not a good idea.

Going to measure and adjust the equalizer hitch tomorrow
They say the dealers aren’t that fussy with them
Do you recommend raising the L brackets or adding spacer washers. There’s only 3 washers installed now?
I just need to transfer about 300 lbs to the front axel.

The bars should be parallel with the a frame

Only adjust the L brackets if they are not parallel . Washers imo are the best way to adjust
