Good morning all. I had a near catastrophe yesterday (see pics). I want suggestions on brand and style of receiver hitch to mount to the frame of our Imagine.
As you can see in the pics, the receiver hitch failed and it had 3 bikes. The bumper is fine and the I added extra supports just to make it more sure. My days or relying on a hitch mounted to the bumper are over!
Thanks.

Personally, and I'm thinking about it, I would take the trailer to a company that does hitches and such. To me the only way to mount a receiver hitch on a trailer is to weld it in place. But that's JMO of course.

I bought some raw material (4" steel channel iron) and cut to length two pieces that would go from the right side to the left side of the trailer's main frame rails, which are 12" I beams. The channel sits on top of the bottom flange of the main I beams and I had a Certified Mobile Welder come to the house to weld them in place. Welding was done to the junction of the channel leg and the bottom flange, as well as to the webbing of the I beam. I had previously laid them up there, and marked where my Class III hitch receiver needed to be exactly, and drilled all 8 of the holes in the channels to be able to bolt the receiver up to the channel, once it was welded in place. I used 1/2"-13 bolts and nuts and flats and locks....all Grade 8 hardware to then bolt it up. Needless to say, probably overkill for a bike carrier for two bikes, but I also know that it's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Just wondering if anyone here has used these? Would like to mount a bike rack and thought these would work.

Will work until they dont

There is a tremendous amount of movement at the rear of a trailer. Metal will break
