Anyone using a GMC transparent camera on their trailer - one that integrates with the GMC camera system? I’ve a 2024 GMC 3500 Denali Dually and saw that the camera to complete the “transparent” feature of the system is available. Wondering how it works

Does the camera need to be hardwired back to the truck or does it send a signal to a receiver in the truck?

Anyone have a performance report for that set up?

Thanks!

Thanks for both replies. I’d heard that for transparent to work on 5th wheel that the camera needed to be relocated to a more central location as opposed to the own location near the top of the RV. Not sure I wanna be taking that course. I also heard (somewhere, don’t recall) that the 2024 3500 Denali had a camera option that resolved the relocation and allowed use of the trailer’s OEM location near the top. So much for “hearing” about it I guess.

I have it. The 2024 camera does work on 5th wheels. You need to make sure you get the ‘24 camera. The ‘23 and earlier will not work. The camera needs to be mounted in a specific area in the center of the rv. Transparent will not work if it’s at the top of the rv but the normal rear view camera will work fine. It is an hardwired system. Running the wire is the hardest part. The camera port on the truck is in the bumper plug. I swapped the plugs in mine to move the camera port to the bed.

Good to know! Saves me trouble and heartache. Thanks!

If I did it all over again I would probably just mount it at the top and forgo the transparent view. I rarely use it. I do like the hardwired system to as it never drops out and has very good picture quality. I have never had much luck with wireless systems though others have had better results
