Trying to understand Heating in 2930RL

New to RVing and just bought (used) the Solitude “S” 2930RL. I thought the A/C would blow from the units in the ceiling (which it does) but that the heat would blow from the “floor” vents in the island in the kitchen and in the wall in the bedroom. We are using electricity to run the heater (vs. propane) and the heat is coming from the same place the A/C does, up top. Is this normal? What are the vents for if not for pushing heat? Thanks much.

If you are using electric heat, it's a heat pump or heat strip in the AC unit and will blow from the AC racetrack vent system. If you use the propane furnace, it will blow from the heating/furnace vents near the floor. If you're talking about a heat pump, be aware that heat pumps are ineffective when the temps get very low. There are settings on your thermostat to select which heat source is used.

Nancy, Normally there are two separate systems, the furnace (propane based) which only pushes heat out the floor vents. Then the AC system which normally only pushes cold air out the ceiling vents, unless you have heating elements inside the roof AC units or have a heat pump type AC system. So in this case yes, you could get heat out of the AC ceiling vents. We have never had a heat pump type or heating elements in our AC units so I don't have detailed knowledge of systems.

Use the actual "furnace" setting and it should be the floor vents.

If you are using "electric heat" it is a heat pump and will come out the a/c vents.

I actually turn off both a/c circuit breakers in cooler weather and our furnace only runs on propane.
