We have a Reflection 150 230RL 5th wheel trailer and have been towing it with the Turning Point Hitch(wedge in place)pivoting at the trailer as opposed to on the hitch in the bed of the truck. Our tow vehicle is a GMC Sierra Club cab (a cab and a half) with 6.5 ft. bed. I can easily maneuver the trailer without fear of it hitting the back of the cab. I'm thinking about locking in the Turning Point Hitch so the trailer will then pivot on the hitch in the bed (Pull Rite 16K).
I'm considering this because the Turning Point Hitch required periodic bearing service to the tune of several hundred dollars.
Will the trailer hit the cab? If locked in, should grease or Teflon disc be used at the interface?
Is there any difference in pulling or ride?
Appreciate feedback/advice on making this transition.
Thank you
